Default Manual Rack Question...Where to buy?

I need a manual rack set-up. Now I did a search and I see Madman offers a set-up and it looks as if his set-up uses the stock rack mounts on the factory K-member? The other option I found is a Flaming River Pinto rack, so I am assuming Flaming River doesn't make a direct bolt on for the F-body and we are using a rack for a 71-72 Pinto? If so, what do I need to purchase to make this rack work? Can someone please post links or part #'s of the exact items to make the Pinto rack work? I am just confused what to purchase. What all do I need to make the Pinto work?

Now I have a K-member that has the mount for a manual rack, it doesn't have the factory mounts so it doesn't look like the Madman is going to work.. plus its a little pricing?

Thanks

Madmans rack is a direct bolt in which is nice.

I just installed the flaming river rack yesterday that needed very little in the way of fabricating. Worth the savings of $300 if you ask me. If you cannot weld them buy the Madman rack. my .02

Thanks Madman, I will prob give you a call.

Now with the Flaming River, does it come with the parts to do that or is it pretty much make your own mounts? You fabbed all the pcs yourself right? Thats the one for $300 I am guessing

If so then the Madman might be worth it.

it all depends on the kmember really. if you get a kmember with pinto rack mounts then you wont have to fab anything, if you have a standard style kmember then you'll want to use the madman unit.

Ok that is what I am looking for. I have the K-member with the pinto manual rack mounts, not factory mounts. What I need is the link to rack I need to buy. Now what about a steering shaft ect? Can you buy one to work?

PA and BMR have a kmember for a Pinto style manual rack. My kit comes with the rack, billet clamp kit(to mount the rack to the k-member) bumpsteer kit, tie rod sleeves(most other kits require you to weld your sleeves to the rack which makes it a pain in the *** to align) and a steering shaft.

I would be willing to look at one. The main problem is the car is rear steer so getting a rear steer manual rack will be a challenge.

I think he's referring to the steering rack being mounted behind the K member, rather than in front of it, like in the F-bodies.

Damn you gave it away. I could have made easy money here. Just for everyones info a car with the steering in front of the spindles is called front steer. A car with the steering behind the spindle is called rear steer. The GTO is rear steer.

Ok. What I want is to remove abs powersteering and use a manual rack and still be somewhat streetable. My mustang is set up that way and I have no issues with being streetable

If you road race with skinnies, it'll be fine.
