OZITE Finaly Installed
I used A LOT of spray adhesive because I wanted the carpet to conform to every bend in the floor pan in order to be able to put my factory carpet over in for the summer to keep the car quiet.
I left the plastic interior panels out to show you where the carpet is and isn't.

YAY
Just take your sweet time doing it, don't rush it, use lots of glue and a heat gun to stretch the carpeting over the floor boards.
Ya know, you could lose a little more weight if you get rid of that 3rd foot pedal.

Thanks dude, it took long enough but with the tracks opening up soon I said the hell with it and knocked the remainder out this afternoon.
An automatic with a converter weighs more then a T56... I think

Where did you start with it? the way I was gonna go abotu it was to cut a small oval hole in the center a few feet back, set that over the shifter, and just enlongate it the lenth of the console a little at a time until I had it pushed up as far as I wanted it and then go from there..... that way the carpet woudl be connected in front where your feet are (I'd think it will help stop it from wanting to pove around some) and then lay it up into the back slowly... once it's all layed in, then start with the adhesive, and once it's glued down, do all the final trimming, and reinstall interior.
Sound about right?

Stock carpet with the backing is over 40 lbs.
As far as weight savings I'm not sure. A wile back I pealed up my stock carpet and glued Dynamat in place of the factory sound proofing from the front seats back. With the Dynamat my carpet weight over 60lbs. Dynamat is heavy *** sh*t. So the weight savings is HUGE for me. That is mainly the reason why I would race with no carpet in the car. The Ozite was 7lbs without the shipping plastics. In the summer, to keep the car quite and appease the GF I will put the factory carpet with the Dynamat back in the car over the Ozite.
As far as installation; I started by laying the carpet in the car, cutting a long slit down the center I was able to move the sides all the way up into the foot well. Once the two sides of the carpet reached into the driver and passenger foot wells I glued down a patch of carpet to the top of the drive shaft tunnel from the rear center console mounting plate about 18" back. This was just to have the carpet stay as I was trying to stretch it over the front of the two sides of the car.
Next, I started trimming the sides around the center console are and glued it down to the transmission tunnel forward to the firewall. After the carpet was secured around the tunnel I worked outwards to the doors and back to the back seats.
It seems like the logical way to install this stuff is to work from the center out.
The pain int he *** part was around the rear seat wells and the flat part where the floorboards turn into the rear seat back. That required a lot of seam work. Here is a pic with the seams highlighted;

I will also make some sketches of the cuts that were made.
Like I said, I am **** retentive and I could not stand the idea of having ripples and folds. I would have rather taken more time in cutting and creating neat seams then to see bunching and folding.
A buddy and I installed Ozite in my car last weekend and it was pretty easy. We didn't glue it down at all, mainly because it's a race car and you never know when you'll need to take it out..
I was leary of the stuff, but after working with it, I would recommend it.

The glue is 'permanent' but in case of emergency when I need to get to the wired beneath it I can always peel it back, the floorboards whon't be nice and pretty, maybe a little fuzzy LOL but It can always be taken out and the glue residue cleaned off with Brakeleen.
I really hate the way my interior looks

Thanks
David
