I know John has said to hold off on the paypal offers but here is something to think about.

Say a few shops step up to the plate and take car of pretty muc everything on the car.

Then the Admin could open a paypal for the thing and alow members to pay for all the extra ods and ends and upgrades to things. Instead of regular centerline wheels people could chip in for alumastars or something like drag brakes. Money could also go for the cost of the car itself, or a new paint job, whatever.

You could take the car to PINKS and say "Our sponsors and members paid for and built this car, it is their car".

I am NOT trying to push the issue John because I know you said it will happen at some time I am just saying that a lot of us have a lot faster cars now after being on this site and a lot of us have saved A TON of money and it would REALLY mean a lot for us to help out. I know it would be really cool for us all to be watching and know we have some money in the car. I think we would have more pride in it from putting out money into the car then the sponsors doing all of it

You could approach coral forums about it and I am sure they have plenty of memebers saying the same thing and I am sure that PINKS would love to have a race between the two KILLER car forums and know its members and sponsors built the car and that its just not some shop car.

Can't wait to see the car

I still say all out monstors with a 400 or a glide.

my question still remains.....if the overall 6 speed LS1 record is a 9.274@151mph how in the world are you planning on cutting 3/4 of a second faster time to beat the stang?

I am nervous beased on the weight difference and the fact that they will almost garunteed go with a turbo 302, 351 or a turbo cobra engine in a fox body notch back... Which is a combo that makes it pretty friggen hard to beat unless our car uses some sort of FI as well.. We also have about 800lbs of extra weight to deal with...

An rx7 or 240sx with the lsx block and a tubbed back end would have instantly shaved a lot of time off the car just because it would be about 1200lbs lighter than an F body (and cheaper than an Fbody too). With that race weight and the power we want to make we could push this car very deep into the 8s, maybe the 7s depending on how crazy you guys plan to go with the engine and the Nitrous. Now thats bringing a gun to a knife fight right there...

BTW I also vote for a glide tranny

Actually my reccollection is that 1996 SN95 body is not super light, a friend has a NMRA drag radial 1995 and I think he's struggled to get that car to 3100 without using Lexan.... Maybe some of you x-stangers can chime in on that... I'm just going off of memory.

So what I'm hearing is that we should remove the AC and other stuff for weight reduction? O RLY.

I would. If anything else, just for the ease of being able to work on it.

Mine with leather, power D-seat and t-tops weighed 3300. So I would imagine about 30-50lbs less.

And this was with BMR SFCs and LCAs.
