Default ATTN caliper grinders

BE careful! i almost had a disaster today. My rear drivers side brake caliper snapped in half! I had ground my calipers down to fit 15x10 prostars.

Thanks for the warning. I hate to think of the pain and trouble that might result from an accident caused by modified brakes.

didnt make any sound...just stepped on the brake for the linelock and its sank to the floor. Got out and saw the top of the caliper was missing.

I pulled the brake pad out through the wheel lol

That sucks. I did mine seven years ago and they are still good.

backspacing and wheel width doesn't affect how much needs to be ground off cause its the face of the wheel that hits

wheel type, and if you choose the run a spacer or not is what will determine how much to grind.

Im looking for another set of calipers to grind if anyone knows someone willing to sell a set.

does anyone know if the Lt1 brake setups are smaller in diameter?

Sorry to hear about that man, do you have pics of the grind work (before or after the failure)?

I haven't had any trouble with mine so far.
(I have grinded LS1 brakes on my 93)

when you say Lt1 brakes will work, does that mean theyll bolt onto the backing plates and all? anyone with an LT1 have any grinding experience?

Ill be posting up pictures soon.

The scary part was that i was getting ready to do my run and couldnt do a burnout with my line lock. i pumped the brakes and realized there was no pressure. Imagine if it failed trying to stop at 130 mph?

I had a brake caliper snap in half on my old '00 at 130mph+. I couldn't slow the car down in time, crashed, and totalled it. I run Convo Pros on my '99 so I don't have to grind.

What's you wheel tires size and setup? I love the Convo Pro's. I just want them to be tucked in.
