John and Brain at texas speed said ill be in the mid 9s with my set-up. Now what all am I going to have to do inside to pass tech? I jumped the gun and ordered a weld in 6 point wolfe roll bar also have 6 point shoulder belts and crotch strap but what else is going to be needed on the inside? The car is a show/strip car and will still have ac and all the chrome goodies.Sorry for the long post thanks and lmk asap

Well, I would not call it jumping the gun with the cage... your going to need that on anything faster then an 11.49.

If I am not mistaken, I think you need more then a 6 point cage to run a 9.99 or faster. But I could be wrong.

You have to get licensed as well to run that fast. Along with cut-off switches, etc.

Im sure NHRA has some write up somehwere or maybe a sticky on here for 9 sec cars. I am not that fast yet so I am still a newb as well. Good luck.

this is just off the top of my head.. but for 9.99

i think u need 10pt.. i will need full harness.. you will also need a shoot if your over 145mph??? and shut off etc.. u will need full fire suit... just jacket for 11.50s to 10.o I THINK...

also you will need to get licensed.. witch is kinda a pain.. witch includes the blindfold test and progressive speedup of your ride...

i cant remember the others.. most others are mechanical.. you will need that cage certed too i believe.

i could be wrong.

GL thats a fast ride hope your used to it.. big diffrence between 11.0's and 10.0's!!

for a car in the 9's you are gona need:

certified 10 pt
battery cutoff
no coolant, water onlyin the radiator
5 pt harness
nhra/ihra lic.
fire suit
neck brace
s2000 approved helmet
blowdown tube for nitrous setup if you're running that
driveshaft loop
trans shield/bellhousing
sfi flexplate
sfi pulley

I know there's more, at the point you are at, a rulebook would be a wise investment.

I've been 9.20s without a cage! I have a street car though!

You must be at an outlaw track. At HRP when you start getting near 11.5 they keep there eye on you for a cage. But a smaller backwoods track like evadale you can get away with murder. If its a NHRA sanctioned track the rules should be pretty strick.

The outlaw tracks usually run faster than NHRA tracks anyway. Outlaw tracks don't care about all the hype, they cater to the "little people" in drag racing. Usually NHRA tracks are run by a bunch of ********.

The NHRA was established for the safety of racers. That's why there strict, NHRA=Safety. I have been going to Houston Raceway Park for about 5 years now and they are great people. The only ******* I have met was the GM at the track. He is pretty much a douche. But the rest of the crew care about the bracket racer.
