I gave the hatch to a guy I know who works in an airplane fab shop before I busted the glass out I just had to trim it. I'm not sure if its actual mar-guard (I may be mis-using the phrase) but its pretty tough compared to the stuff I had on my last car with lexan windows, the guy who made it mentioned mar-guard I never heard of it prior to that.

When its done I'll post pics, not to until it cools off though

I have made misc side windows out of lexan with a heat gun and the stock glass but I didnt want to blow a sheet of 3/16 if I screwed it up. I cracked the back glass trying to get it out and he volunteered to take the glass out (my method was going to be a BFH) and make the window when I was on my ultra-lightning bine last winter. Unfortunately all the stuff I planned to do I didnt get done and its heavier then when I started

percy's speedglass is pre-formed and coated with a hard coating, so it has awesome optics. it is so clear it looks like you can stick you hand thru it (exaggerated) they make speedglass for airplanes so you know it is good.

I only tried gluing the rear on this one, most heads up stuff you need a OE windshield. I'm sure its possible to glue them, I just didnt do something right. Maybe I didnt sand enough coating off.

Different car I made the side windows for, third gen but they didnt roll up and down.

Lexan wont work too well with the regulators these have, not much weight to be saved either. But if you gut the doors and regulators and do stationary lexan windows with a frame you can save a bunch

It did require some trimming but it was very easy to do. I cut it with a jig saw and it took like 5 min once I had it traced out. It is way better than lexan by the way since you dont have to worry about it scratching, they claim you can rub steel wool on it and not hurt it! Not to mention it looks trick!!
So you put it in the stock hatch?

yes you can but i think it needs to be screwed to be safe...wondering if thers any wayt to make brackets to attach on the inside? or somehow cover up the screws with some paint...id like to lose the 50 pounds out back mayeb the front one and sides if i could get it to still look stock....id like to make the side windows roll up/down and tint with them!

I seen $390 on their website for 1/8inch thick rear window. I was hoping to find it cheaper somewhere

Just remember, you get what you pay for. You can probably get regular lexan for cheaper, but it wont have a good coating on it like the speedglass.

I talked to jim at percy's since there seems to be alot of interest on this stuff. He said that speedglass is the only lexan based windows on the market that can be tinted, they are formed to factory curvature using the factory glass and they are hard coated on both sides with their scratch resistant coating. here is the website link www.percyshp.com They also said they are about to become a sponsor and will be putting together some groups and approaching the sponsor shops to carry it!! Actually I think ls1 speed used to carry or still does carry their stuff.

Did you happen to ask them about the screws vs. glueing it in? I would love to save some weight but i'm not going to screw the rear replacement window in for cosmetic reason.

I bought a used formula hatch and I'm going to paint it and put the percy speedglass on that so I have both. Some race classes don't allow lexan.

SPEEDGLASS vs. GLASS
WEIGHT COMPARISON
The most valuable advantage of SPEEDGLASS for racers is the tremendous weight savings, not to mention being
shatterproof and extremely scratch resistant.
Following is an actual weight savings comparison for some popular race applications. Weight savings can vary
depending on thicknesses of SPEEDGLASS
windows used. The following comparisons are factory glass vs. a full set of 1/8" SPEEDGLASS windows, common for
most race applications.SPEEDGLASS is the best weight savings per dollar spent for any steel-bodied race car. Please contact Percy's
High Performance, Inc. or your closest dealer for ordering information!

Application Factory Glass Weight SPEEDGLASS Weight Weight Savings
79-93 Mustang 71 lbs.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,28 lbs..........................43 lbs
82-92 Camaro 108 lbs.......................31 lbs..........................77 lbs
93-01 Camaro 96 lbs.........................32 lbs........................64 lbs
