Default My new IHRA Real Street RX7!!!

Well I finally got down to Maryland to pick up the new toy. Big thanks to Mike for a amazing deal on a great car. Its a 93 Arrival Blue base model. Currently here are the mods and I will list below the parts I already have and plans for the car. Hope you guys like it.

Current Mods:

S&W Racecars 10 pt Roll Cage installed and NHRA certified to 8.50 through 2008
Window Net Install kit installed
Competition Engineering Steering Column - Collapsable
BRAND NEW Custom Paint - Chevrolet Arrival Blue
Shaved Mirrors/Gas Cap/ Emblems
Delrin Bushings
All Pillowball joints replaced
Fuel Cell - 5 Gallon
5 POINT Racing Harness
Window Net
Line Lock
B&M Ratchet Shifter
Quick Release Momo Steering Wheel
8 Switch Panel
Starter Button
NHRA Cutoff switch - Flaming River
Painless Wiring Harness
Kirkey Race Seat
Driveshaft Saftey Loop
Alumistars Fronts w/Skinnies
28x11.5/16 ET Streets on stock wheels
Tokico 5 way adjustable
Steel Braided lines front and rear
Eibach Springs

Parts I have now not installed:

Evo-R Sleek headlight kit(awaiting buckets to get painted arrival blue)
LS1 with fresh rebuild
Melling High volume oil pump
FMS F5 Cam 224-228
Ported heads w/Comp Cam dual springs and titanium retainers
Custom built true long tube equal length headers
MSD Wires
T-56 waiting for viper internals
Mcleod Steel bell housing
NOS Direct Port kit w/modded fuel rails

I will be working on finsihing up the LS1 swap kit. I am making all of it myself and will post updates when I can. The car in the end will be an auto. Havnt decided on a glide, th400 or lenco yet. But I have a T-56 sitting around so it will go in. This LS1 and t-56 is actually intended for my daily driver and this car will get a forged stroker someday. But the daily driver FD needs paint so it will be awhile till its ready to go.

Also the hood scoop will be removed. I am not allowed to use any forward facing scoops. I will be making a bump for the center section of the hood. To clearance for the turbo and related items. And yes I just set the front bumper on for the pictures. It is a factory piece and fits perfect when installed.

I plan to back half it and run a 9" with a Pro-Link setup.

Looks a little weird with the front end up with no motor and the scoop, probably wont look too bad when the car is sitting like it should. Looks like a cool project, lot of other cars laying around in those pics .

Thanks guys, ya i agree it looks best in that pic. I just removed the spoiler from the car. Decided I really didnt like the look of it at all. Also took the hood scoop off. I will be going with a 2 or 3" smooth cowl. It should match the lines of the car alot better. And if I can just run a stock hood in the end I will. But as of right now I have the blue hood with a large cutout in it. So I will try to make something out of it.

that's gonna be a fast car when you are done. I noticed the 04 banshee/r1 motor swap in your sig.. I used to have a quadracer 500 with a gsxr1100 swap... that thing was insane fast, I can imagine what your banshee must be like

Ya thanks, it should be alot of fun once its finished. I wanted to have it done for the EFI Drags at E-Town but I dont think I will be done in time. But sooner or later it will get done. As for the Banshee it isnt done either lol. I am in the middle of streching the frame. But once its done it will be a beast. I bet that quadracer
was tons of fun.

yes it was. One thign I can tell ya get beadlock wheels for the back, because you can get enough tire speed with the bike motor to actually hav the tires expand to the point that they come off the beads due to high speed..... I had it happen to me. RIP across a field get to the other side and both tieres are off the bead because the 20 inch tire got to about 25 inches tall LOL.

Looks great, I love the idea of a smooth cowl hood on the car. Where do you think the raceweight will end up?

Good info and it makes sense. Guess I will be investing in a set of bead locks then

As for the racd weight of the car. I think it will be around 2500lbs with me in it. But I will have to meet a 2,800lb min.
