Running into some small issues. I've got 2 cylinders that are not firing, pulled the injectors and they are off to get checked/cleaned out tomorrow. Going to check the wiring harness this weekend to make sure the drivers are working right.

Fired the car up with the new tune and eventhough its only on 6 cylinders, it still idles well with 4.5:1 Air/Fuel. At 5:1 it will warm up to 155 degrees and not really go any hotter with 3/4 gallon of water total in the motor with no recirc. Its seems to build boost soo much easier, just foot braking it and still trying to get the A/F right it will go into 1-1.5# of boost at 2300rpms.

I tenatively put the car on the scales and I was surprised. I'll leave it at that. Hopefully

Damn I guess you think they are stuck then? Your using the BS3 injector drivers right?

I bet it does build boost a lot easier. I've always heard of people saying E85, and Methanol's added exhaust volume going out the exhaust port will aid in spool.

As far as the weight, hope you don't end up having to throw 100#'s on the nose so that it will hook!

Yeah, I hurt the head gasket and a piston last year, had the fuel pump back out and it went lean. It hurt the passenger side head gasket and burned the very edge of one piston. I had the pistons checked and there was only one that was hurt. Waiting on a head gasket to put it back together.

I am very excited to see how it runs this year with almost 1# per HP.

Phil who made those lower control arm brackets you put on with the toothed steel, and washers to go along with them? I've been looking around for those and haven't come across them anywhere yet.

3000#'s at MIR.....I'd say that's enough hp to get the job done

In looking at those rules for MIR ODR it seems that they are more wide open than duck's rules and some other ODR classes I have seen. It seems some ODR classes nowadays are scared of the twin 91mm turbo's especially the 94's.

I also find it funny that they restrict you fi guys to a 2 speed and nitrous to a 2 or 3 speed auto.

I am going to try to run their 275 vs 28x10.5 class on wednesday if everything works out. There is no weight mininum there, it will be a few hundred less than ODR trim.

So I took the vacuum pump and tank off in favor of a larger puke tank and lines. I picked up some raw material to make some 1.25" burn down tubes from Cebe out in California. Going to run 1.25" tubing from each valve cover to a 1.2 gallon tank. With the amount of fuel you run on a methanol combination, the vacuum pump just wouldn't work.

I spent most part of the morning working on 2 new tanks. I fab'd a 1.2 gallon puke tank with dual 1.25" inlets and dual 1.25" filters. Its got a 1/4" NPT fitting on the bottom for a petcock and a -10 fitting to vent my turbo drain tank. I ordered some 1.25" hose from Mcmaster and using some T bolts to connect.

Made a new turbo drain tank, out of some 4" round tubing, 7" long. Instead of a 12 off the turbo, I am using 1.25" aluminum tubing to the catch tank and the catch tank is scavenged by the dry sump with a check valve inline and a turbowerx exa pump. That was the last combination I tried last year that fixed the low mounted turbo oiling problem. I'll take some pics of the tanks shortly.

Quick disconnect burndown tubes

puke tank

turbo drain, vent on top, -12 goes back to dry sump with a check valve, -10 goes to turbowerx

Vent + turbo drain tube,

Love this thread and all the fab work youve done but i have a stupid question what are burn down tubes and what are they for? Are they just for alky cars? Good luck with that monster and keep up the good work

Burn down tubes are usually found on alcohol/nitro combinations. They vent the crankcase to a tank that can contain the engine oil/fuel in the case of a blown motor/pressurized crankcase. Basically its 2 x 1.25" crank case vent tubes to a tank that can hold the junk that comes out.

very interesting,

My turn for a stupid question on the same topic.

You said- "With the amount of fuel you run on a methanol combination, the vacuum pump just wouldn't work'

Since i dont know my *** from a hole in the ground when it comes to this,

Why and what does the amount of fuel you run effect the blow by?

My old combo idled at 14.0:1, the methanol setup idles at 5.0:1, down track on C16 was 11.5:1, will be 3.5 to 3.7:1. I think the actual difference is like 2.4 to 1 from methanol to gas.

With that being said, the amount of fuel a methanol motor injests, some will pass through the rings and get into the oil, thats why most guys say you need to change the oil every race day or burn the methanol out. The methanol does increase blow by and crankcase pressure. I have not seen a turbo/supercharged methanol combo run a vacuum pump in drag racing.
