I thought a 5 stage drysump pulled enough crankcase pressure under most situations not to need both.

Everyone I talked to say they were surprised I wasn't running a vacuum pump. Every dry sump company I've talked to said you need 7-8 stages to run a dry sump alone. 4 for the motor, 1 turbo, 2 crankcase vac, 1 oil pressure

I've been doing I little bit of learning on this subject as well. From what I have found it has a lot to do with the internals of the dry sump pump as well as the size of each stage. Weaver Bros. and SCP "stock car products" for example use gear type internals as some of the other brands use lobed and twisted lobed designed internals.

Here's a few pics of the gear type dry sump. Notice #5, these are the gear type

And now the lobed type

And the twisted lobe

As like anything else there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

But I think Phil can add an a couple of A/C compressors along with a fricken 75kw generator to the front of that motor and still hurt a lot of feelings out there!!!

Can't wait to see that car make some clean passes....

The twin screw design is the best for both applications, vacuum and oil. I've got a gear drive that just does oil well. No big deal. It ended up costing about the same in the long run. I know the 7 stage dry sump wouldn't have been cheap.

Dailey Pumps is where it is at. They make some killer stuff. It is not cheap but hell at this point what is.

I know down where Phil lives they've had a HUGE amount of rain over the last week and a half. Probably 15 to 20 inches.

Could you imagine a drag boat with his motor in it? Or a jetski.

Nope, drag boat guys are stuck in the 70s, with only roots blowers. For sanctioned drag boat racing, I've seen 1 procharged setup, rest were nitrous or roots blowers only. I know quite a few "lake" jet boats that would tear a new one to many a race boats.

I went down yesterday only to find my turbo is still leaking. I've got 2 more things to try and if they dont work the turbo is going back to precision. Sooooo fustrating.

Who knows, they said that they just dont go poof from oil backing up and its too new with no abuse. If these last 2 things dont work its going back.

phil...don't be too rash. Mine leaked like a **** until I solved the underlying problem. IMHO, sending it back will result in a "fixed" turbo that leaks just as bad, therefore wasting your money
