Default The stickiest tire poll.........

I've already put this in the wheel & tire forum, but I figured I'd get more of an experienced answer here.

Lets hear it. What tires do you prefer to drag with? I'm running 15x8 Prostars with 27x10.5 M/T ET Streets right now, but am thinking about trying out a pair of 28x11.5 Hoosier QTP D.O.T.'s. I need something sticky...I'm running about 475 to the wheels with the help of a 150 shot of gas, going through a T-braked TH400. Please keep in mind, they have to fit on a 15x8" wheel and be D.O.T. approved. And no, I will not use Nittos.

Your good with what you got if your goin 15s. For street/strip i like the BFG drag Radial 315s. The hook up real nice and are close to butter with a 4-5 sec burnout. Not much in the life department though

i voted other b/c on a transbrake th400 its not real easy to consistently get a m/t radial to hook without LOTS of work. i have gone 1.39 60' on teh brake on m/t radials but i have also shook the **** out of them many times.

my vote is the 28x9 m/t et drags as they fit on the 8" rim well and will take the hit of the brake.

A lot of people voting for the M/T 275/60-15 DR. I know its got a wider tread surfave than the 27x10.5 ET Street, but can it stick 475rwhp off the line with a trans brake? To be honest, I'm really torn between the Hoosier QTP 28/11.5 and the M/T 275/60. Hmmmmmm.

John is right. I voted other too. 28x9 ET Drag. Don't waste your time with a DOT approved tire. Go full slick.

I voted other for the ET Drag. The 28x9's only measure at around 27". If I were you though I would roll with some 28x10.5's. Eventually the 9" tire's not gonna be enough for you. I found that out this weekend on mine.

I know that when I went to a local performance shop and picked up my ET Drags that they had a MT book there that said that the Drag radials actually had a softer compound than the ET Streets. Just food for thought.

QTP FTMFW!!! I Just blew through a set of those. They're BAD ***! With vht on the street I was launching at 3500 rpm (prob higher cause i dont have line lock) off a 6 speed with 0 spin in my 550 hp 427.

summit was out, so i went with MT's this time.

275/60's can hook low 8 sec cars trapping in the 170mph range.

It'a all in the suspension setup.

I never 60'd well on the MT 28x10.5s's.
MT drag radials are great IF you go off the footbrake on an auto although some have had success off the t brake and m6.
The tire that worked best for me and they are not used by many (maybe just me ) is the Goodyear D3 slick. I ran 28x11's. They are a hard compound slick made for 3000 lb+ cars like ours. Off the transbrake N/A I consistently ran low 1.3 60's in the cooler weather w/a best of 1.32.
These tires held even on cold days, I'm talkin' 35 degrees, COLD!
I would never spin on those tires unless it was super hot out and I wasn't making enough power to get the fronts high enough to keep the tires from unloading and even then I was in the high 1.3's.
I can't say enough about those tires!

Yeah I've got a pic like that also (somewhere) of my car wheels up on the same tires, I'm not saying they're crap or anything I just never could get my 60' down on those tires like I have on the Goodyears.

You really make me want to try out the goodyears. Right now im trying to decide if i want to go to a full slick or mt drs 325-50-15s. So far i havent had much luck ive tried 26in and 27 in Hoosier QTP's 1.67 best on both lol. 6-speed car 430rwhp na and 150shot. I could never get them to do anything worthwile na on the bottle i would kinda just let it bod alittle then spray immediatley. I know it wasnt the right tactic but was the only way for me to not go out in a blaze of glory.

Does anyone know how much heavier the M/T drag radial is compared to the M/T ET Street?

I know our stock tires and wheels weighed 45 lbsPer wheel/tire.Then with the M/T 255/50/16 on stock 94 tranny wheels weighed 54 lbs on our car.
Hope that helps some.
