Chassis tuning for 325 Drag Radials?
#42
If you can manage it and the car keeps hooking keep cranking up the boost. I think you will have to leave 12-15 psi but try to get in that zone at around 4400. That should get the car moving and up on the power. If it blows the tires off keep working the chassis.
If you want those elusive 8.xx slips your gonna have to muster a 1.30-1.28 short time. To do that you will need lots of power out of the hole. A drag radial can do it. Especially the big dog 325 60 15. That tires has been low 7's in a mustang.
How much Anti squat do you have in the rear suspension and where is the ride hieght at ? Also what TQ arm are you running ? Do you have an Anti Roll bar ? what rear springs are you running ?
these are questions That need answering !
If you hit a road block you know how to get in touch. I can arrange for the hookmaster to get out to the track with ya. He ain't cheap but he can make it go.

I'm thinking I will try 3600 on the 2 step, and then if it hooks good, keep upping it. I'm thinking that I might baseline the combo at 15psi and work from there. I'm guessing that's like 700rwhp for me.

The alston TQ arm may not cut it. I have seen sevral of them fail repeatdly. I would put that on the top of my replace list.
Toss the drag bar get a Wolf atiroll Bar kit. Far superior. teh drag bar is ok in a 10 second ride not an 8 second ride.
Stock springs is good !
What shock and how many clicks ?
You should probolay touch base with me off board.

I did not get out to milan to see them run but after watching the video and hearing first hand accounts it seems like they have really got that chassis and engine combo working etxremly well. IMO great work on the part of that shop and the crew running the car. It's not really easy to make a stock suspension F-car go down the track as well as they have got that car working.
the most amazing part about that car seems to be that it's getting more and more consistent. Truly the mark of a good working car and crew.

I was talking to CAMN HAWK a while ago about it and he helped me out a lot with figuring out how to cram the 15x12s under there. I'm going to start with the 15x10s and then when I can afford the rest of the parts to mini tub I'll be switching over to the 15x12s.
Yeah, really! They just set the new record and they're running 315/60/15s to boot.

Madman, thanks for the time on the phone yesterday, I went 1.35 on the 325 DR's. I did about 90% of what you suggested, I was not building boost like you were reccomending but we were worried about having some small problems so we'll do that next time.

It looks like its leaving fiarly well. You need more power and most likely a few more PSI of tire pressure. what are you running for air pressure now ?I heard the turbo spooling up and down. Are you having a boost managment issue ?
Put some rim screws in your tires. thats most likely the cuase of you tire shake. either that or get some bead locking wheels. Had a similar issue on a another car not long ago.

Hey John,
I may be able to fix these vids so they are in the right screen size. I'll see what I can do so that you don't look like Lightning Mcqueen anymore.
Car looks great in person, by the way...
