Our spindle will use the Strange spindle. As far as the exceptable limits of the spindle, we have used spindle mounts on 3000 lbs cars going over 200 mph these cars do not wheel stand and have dual chutes. This application they work, as far as 3000-3400 lbs and puttin on the bumper, this I would not recommend, I don't think the spindles would break they would bend first. This is why we have two different versions factory replacement and drag(lite) spindles.
A heavy car doing big wheel stands and maybe only one chute I would recommend the factory replacement strut with a 4 piston brake set up.

you can even drop .5lb per wheel when changing to a spindle mount... plus the extra light brake kit (2lbs or so lighter than the 4piston on each side) and light spindle(3lbs+ lighter on each side than the direct replacement spindle for heavier cars).... that will be nice to drop an extra 10-15 or so lbs from the spindle/brake/wheel area.... of course no one counts the lugs on the front wheel or a standard wheel mount versus a spindle mount...

SO what brake kit would i need to buy to run a aluma star spindle mount front wheel with your spindles? How much would it all be?

The factory replacement spindle can be used for a daily driver or a road race situation. The spindle mount spindle will use any spindle mount brake kit that is designed for the Strange spindle. The Strange kit is $550.00, we are talking about doing a brake spindle package for a $1000.00. The factory replacement spindle will take any brake kit that fits the 1LE type spindle and uses the dust cover holes for the caliper bracket ie. C5,C6, C4, LS1, or CTS-V.

What is the weight of the single piston spindle mount wheel brake kit? THX!
Not only is the caliper lighter, you don't use a hub, lugs, lug nuts, and the rotors are probably lighter as well.

So if you go with a Pinto rack and some aluminum shocks you will probalbly see 100-115 lbs off the front of your car with this swap. We are doing a car in the shop right now and I will post more numbers as I get them. If there are any other question I can answer let me know. BTW The Racecraft spindle mount spindle will accept the Strange single piston brake kit which weighs 15.5 lbs. So that set up will weigh 28.7 lbs in a few weeks, 68.5 lbs. less than stock.
Thanks, Mark

If the p/a spindlie is 6.5 ea. and the spindle brakes are 6.7 ea., that puts you at 13.2 lbs per side for spindle AND brakes. You do have to add back in some weight for the bearings though.
