They were only $650, not bad. I already had custom rear D10's I wasn't about to change wheel styles. The backs look too good!

Ty,

Were you on our list for the 4th gen drop spindles? We've had them completed for about 3-4 weeks now, and we have shipped all the previous orders. We have the spindle mounts available as well, which it looks like you were interested in going that route.

Heres a link to the spindle mounts I discussed.

i ended up getting the 4th gen spindles that converted to the 3rd gen brake kit... the more i thought about it the more i thought the stronger spindle would do better since it is a small tire car that may do some wheel stands....

thanks,

Tyler

bringing this back...what exactly are the options here...im lost with the 1/3/4gen brake stuff

you can oblivously run
4th gen stock spindle with 4th gen light brakes (950 plus lines) 45 pounds
4th gen lightweight spindle with 4th gen light brakes (1500) 62 pounds?
3rd gen spindle with 1st gen brakes? (price?) pounds?
and weight differance...

Default how spindles affect performance

Lowering the front changes your CG and I would imagine affects your rear suspension geometry as well. Actually I'm pretty sure it does.

Does it help keep the front planted? Loading of the rear wheels during launch? Tie Rod to spindle adapters tapered?

When you take into account the cost of front Strange Eng. 4th gen brakes and the cost of Racecraft front spindles and 3rd gen brakes it's only a few hundred more. I just want to know the benefit.

I'm on the verge of buying the brakes and manual rack, I'm glad I saw this thread, and want to make sure it all works together and there is a benefit.

BTW, I KNOW it's A LOT easier to just call Racecraft but I'm sure the membership can benefit from this information on this forum.
How your spindles will affect performance will depend on the type of racing you plan on doing. If you are drag racing, the benefits are deminimus. About the only gain you will recognize is a tiny bit of weight loss. However, if you are drifting or road racing, the benefits are huge. As a matter of fact, it would be practically impossible to be competitive without the PA spindles. The purpose of drop spindles is to correct geometry of a lowered car. The purpose of lowering a car is to lower the center of gravity. By lowering the center of gravity you increase the front traction of your car when going around turns. An extra benefit of the PA spindles is that you can get them built with the sterring arms shotened and with the sterring ball joint pivots spaced inward which will do 2 things, one increase steering angle by 11 degrees and increase ackerman, both which are critical for drifting perfrormance.
