Its more impressive to see a guy run 10 NA in a 6 speed though.
ya, i hear ya, im not going to put a th400 in the car if its going to gain me only like 2 tenths in the 1/4 on the bottle.

im still debating on what i want to do, i will have all winter to decide

An auto is also easier on the rear end, having the auto preload the chassis and also the torque converter takes some of the shock out of the initial hit.

The TH400 will handle WAY more power than a T-56.

i wouldnt worry about the little bit of ET you gain with a TH400. i would worry about how many clutches you are willing to buy if you want to spray and go fast....

well took the 6 speed to the track for the last time this year.

car went 11.20@126 1.84 60ft on nittos.

it was nice hanging with trailored slick cars, and coming back on them in the big end, then driving my car home.

but bad news is, somethings fucked up with my clutch
not sure if it has to do with the hydraulics or the clutch itself.

still debating on what im going to do, have all winter to decide

I would ask Tanner or Joe Honeycut from t56rebuilds. Tanner holds the record for the fastest and quickest t56 driven car fbody in the country. Joe holds the record for the quickest all motor m6.

400 all the way.

i started out w/ a 6-speed, then went to a 400 w/ a brake, back to a 6-speed for 50 miles. so i am now changing transmissions again back to a 400 w/ a brake. consistent. and theres nothing like spraying off of a transbrake and not having to worry about clutches

my driving is 98% track only.

I would say your choice should come down to how much street driving you do, and how much fun you like to have on the street. My car, for the next year or so atleast will ultimatly be a street car. I enjoy driving it around on nice days, and there is nothing like driving a manual sports car. If in a couple years i turn the ta into a track only car, or like 90% + track car i will go auto for sure. Auto is more consitent, faster, breaks less, less wear and tear on parts, i know all this. But in my car right now, i dont care about a couple tenths of a second for the fun i will miss in going auto.

People that are more into all out drag racing will vote auto, most others will vote manual.

Good luck man, Chris

That would be Tim Tosto, he has a Hugger orange SS. He DID hold the record for a little bit but Joe Honeycut from t56 rebuilds holds it now.

I would do the TH400 less maintenance and just plain more durable, no clutch tuning, no missed shifts, just put the hammer down and go, go, go.

I had a TH400 from art carr I ran for 2 1/2 years without a single issue, with countless launches off the transbrake and leaving on 250 shots of nitrous and it lived trouble free till I sold the car.

I put the best trans cooler I could find and changed the fluid regularly and never had to touch the thing.

I'm also currently swapping to a th400. I was sick of spending crazy $$$ on clutches. Plus at my local track if you get more than 3 passes in a night you are lucky, and with the 6 speed I was proabaly only getting one really clean pass per night. So it was more frustration to me. Heck I paid more for my last clutch in my t56 than I did for my entire th400 w/ brake and builtup to handle abuse. Plus if something does brake on my th400 it is probably going to be very inexpensive to fix. I can't wait to launch my car off the brake for the first time and not have to worry about **** breaking.

I really liked my t56, but after frying a clutch or 2, I decided to go TH400. I've probably already saved enough money in clutches to pay for the 400.
I like it. Its not as much fun to drive around the street, but at the strip the launches are more fun, and I don't worry about the clutch anymore. If it were my daily driver....6 speed. A car leaning towards track performance...TH400.

Or why not a 4L80E?

Anybody spraying a 300 shot on top of a low 11 second M6 car needs to be comfortable doing a couple clutch swaps a year IMO. It's a high maintenance setup. PM Torkman15 he's a mod and lives in central MI, he's gone 10.3 NA shifting a 6 speed and could give you his thoughts.

Both of my cars are TH400, the camaro started out as an M6 car

If it's a track only car I'd be ok with a th400. For a street and track car I'd want something with a 4th gear, like a beefed up, fully manual 4L80E.
