.

I always use lock nuts on mine also. Most guys don't. If Madman does, than I did good. For once.

I would assume you are drilling the holes into the metal that the windshield/glass was glued to? And then you put screws through and tighten the nuts from the inside of the car or no? Sounds like fun getting rid of all the window glue if thats the case.

i helped my brother find some for his project a wjile back . when looking around you can buy sheets in different sizes starting at 4x8 for just a bit over a hundred . then they have some that have a special coating on them to prevent them from scratching as bad . the price for the same sheet with the coating is around four hundred .

I put lexan windows in my old street strip weekend car. Used that thick rubber stuff to put around the window then you glue it together drilled and used screws and poly lock nuts, then put my chrome trim over it and a made a small brace in the center of the window since I had a 1/8" lexan kit.

NMCA Late Model EFI, the class that I run and majority of the LSX guys run, does not allow it. You can run a F-3 Procharger on top of a 454 solid roller and shooting it with a fogger, but you can't have plastic windows. It is a street car class....

I am in the same boat as SMKN. My purge line cracked mine. Im also debaiting on putting Lexan in front and rear. Im just not a fan of it. Mine is pretty much race only too. So I think I will just let SMKN be the ginny pig, LOL. Does anyone make a Bolt on hatch? Heard there is about 175lbs between the 3?

A Formula hatch W/O glass weighs 38#'s and the glass weighs 38#'s. I have personally measured those +/-. On the windshield, my guess is it's about 45#, so, weight savings regardless is way less than 175#. Not griping, just sharing some info. I've got an extra hatch that I took the glass out to get the weights and to use as a template for my Speedglass rear if I ever do it...had both it and a front for 4-years and still gathering dust.

Lexan isn't that bad, I know a major concern is scratching, but they make a lot of plastic polishes and with proper care they stay clear and are easy to see through, I drove mine on the street and at the track 3 years and could see through them fine and never had a single issue.

They weight less, and if you get into a serious accident, which I hope no one does, they are much more impact resistant and safer.

I called up VFN today to order their windshield, and they said theirs is NOT a pre-formed windshield. Only the rear glass from them is pre-formed, but the front glass is NOT. Which is why the front glass is cheaper.

I called up Pro Glass since they are only about 1 hour from and ordered it from them. He said a 1 week wait time, so that should work out great.

I know with working with plexiglass that drilling it can sometimes crack the sheet of plastic. Working with windows and on other different things I've found what works best is to take a nail get it red hot with a propane torch and burn your hole thru the glass. This makes a clean edge and you don't have to worry about cracking your new sheet. I do this all the time and it works really well. I usually use a 16d common nail for 8-32 screws.

just to let you guys know, percy's speedglass can withstand rubbing with steel wool. The other manufacturers use MR10 which scratches when you clean it. Percy's is by far the best on the market and you dont have to polish it or replace it every season. As far as installation, always use machine screws and lock-nuts. Never use rivets, they will cause the material to crack due to it being overtightened.

You can glue it, if you know what you're doing and have the right urethane and primer.

This is a crappy cell phone pic of the Proglass we got from MadMan. We're installing the rear Proglass as soon as the hatch gets back from paint.
