Default 4 Wheel Line lock?

I have an SLP linelock installed now. I want to launch on a button this year and i may need to lock all four wheels to hold the car on the line. I there a way to modify this kit or does someone make such a linelock?

You can add a second one for the rear.
I have never seen a kit, but you should be able to make one pretty easy.

Why would you do that?

6 speed? Pre-load the suspension and leave off the limiter

Auto?

Trans Brake

I want to leave off a two step maybe the Lingenfelter box made for our cars and a button to release the line lock. Just thinking of better ways to leave and get a good light. I'm bracket racing so every bit counts. I really should have a tranny brake but do not have the funds to get into that this year.

Get a th400 in the car, and use a transbrake, that would be your best bet IMO.

You could do what you're thinking about doing, with a 2nd line lock. You could wire them so a button will put both front and rear active, and still have a switch to activate just the front for the burnout box.

Yes i understand that a new trans with a brake would be the best way to do this but i don't have the funds this year to go that route. I will get one built this year.

It is against the rules to use a line lock at our track! They claim it is an IHRA / NHRA Rule. What is the rules at your track? We had a guy breaking the rules last year and when he left his line lock stay on and when his front tires came down it drove him into the wall!

Not a pretty site!

I honestly dont see it making any noticeable difference, thats why I was asking how you were intending to use the 2 step in the other thread. My reaction time/ET is very consistent leaving at idle off the footbrake. Why not just do that instead of stalling it up? at least until you put in a brake

Just throwing around different ideas. I know some guys at my track that use this method. I have Footbraked for the past 10-15 years with a few different cars. I'm just looking for ways to be the most consistant. With a Two step i can set the rpm for launch and let it fly. I usually launch around 2500-3000 depending on what will hold at the line. Thanks for the advice.

Its agaist the rules in the classes I run in right now. I want to run in super pro where a box is legal. I don't see this helping much at all unless you have a box and if you are running in a class where a box is legal you will be at a huge disadvantage over the tbrake guys.

I will check the rules before i make any changes of course. I know about the disadvantage in the Pro Class (box class). You definately need a trans brake in that class. A few guys footbrake in it here but i don't think they do very well. I looked into what our track is doing with our classes again. I guess they will have a 8.99 limit on the street guys coming over to the new MOD class. So at least i won't have to race against a minivan in the class. The other choice is move up to Pro (box) which i'm not ready to do. Thanks

NHRA overall rules are open to line-lock use in all classes for launching, but I know Division 2 doesn't allow it to launching in footbrake except for a manual trans car (for roll control purposes). Each division has it's own classes and rules. NY should be division 1 so contact their tech director.

Personally I wouldn't leave off a line-lock in an automatic car. All the time needed to set or pump the brakes before grabbing the switch before letting go, plus depending on launch rpm the car could "push" versus the transbrake which locks first against reverse so the car will stay at rest. I'd footbrake it and then try the trans brake when funds allow. Believe me when I say you can beat "box cars" with a footbrake ride.

NHRA Banned rear line locks in 94 and I had to remove my rear lock and go to a trans. brake with a delay box

Nothing like Failing Tech at a division race that is running at your home track

Of coarse two years later they banned electronics

Thanks for all the advice. I will take it all in. I Do understand why the problems that could arise. I will most likely footbrake again this year and maybe move up next year.

That's what I thought too. I'm in div 2 and I think the rules here are line lock on non drive wheels only unless you are in box class, then its OK.

.

Even if you can or don't get caught. Using a line lock on the rear is not very consistant. There have been a few threads around, & brakes just don't release as consistant & quickly as a transbrake. I never tried, just what I read.
