Not that I will ever go that fast but you know me I am trying to do this stuff as safe as I can!!

When I did my cage I went to the back of the car with the bars for one reason if the car gets truned around and I start into the wall backwards I want those bars to start working right off at the bumper support! It may make no difference at all but it made since to me when I was setting there fitting the cage and deciding how I wanted it to look and how I thought it would react in something I never want to be in which is a crash!!!!

Looks like they are doing a great job! I look forward to seeing it when you get it back. It may give me some ideals to add to my setup!

See you soon!

Everyone has their take on the rear bars, I'll put my trust in GM's millions of dollars of engineering for the rear to absorb impact over a couple 5' long bent bars. IMO if these cars arent cut to shreds they are very safe even stock, lot more tech in the body structure than an older car thats for sure. Its very possible to make things too stiff back there, then all that energy gets transfered to you if something happens rather then the sheetmetal absorbing it. Best thing to do is keep it off the wall whether its stock or has a 25.1E chassis

I agree lets keep them off the wall and go have some fun!!

As far as the way the back bars are installed it is a matter of opinion like you stated and you know the old saying everyone has an opinion like they all have something else we don't won't to talk about!

The other method where two bars are setting on top of metal plates welded to thin sheet metal just over the metal gas tank in the case of a 98 model F-body just dont seem to safe to me and I am pretty sure GM never invisioned that in a traffic accident! But then again it would not be the first time or the last time I have installed items on my car incorrectly in other folks opinion.

That is what makes spending money on these cars so much fun. I spend my money that I earned by working very hard the way I want to spend it and everyone else spends their money however they get it the way they want to. I am so blessed and thank the lord everyday that he has allowed me to live in America where I have that right. Man that would be depressing to have to build my car just like everyone else built theirs. Or even worse not be able to enjoy this hobby at all!

Anyway be safe on you trip when you go get the car!

Both, most are under the car though, some go through the floor where the headers/exhaust is where there isnt enough room. I have some pics but you really cant see much.

Thats the main foundation for the roll cage - knows as the #1 bar. Some use round tube under the car, some use square tube, some use round tube in the car. Thats just the way they do it, its still a 100% stock suspension torque arm car.

Few more pics of the inside, since I have headers and Y-pipe exhaust and wanted to keet a stock type trans crossmember not a lot of room under there to work with.

Yea, I need the big boy seat lol.

Plenty of info on bars, cages and SFI specs/ET ranges on the internet. But the only way to find the full SFI 25.5, 25.2 etc spec is to buy the book from SFI or look at someone else's that bought one.

Kevin, that car has come a long way since the first day I saw it, when you came driving in your driveway. It's an awesome piece but I don't think that you will stay at 8.9 for long.

Yea, you're right. It has. I'm about at the limit though because I will NOT put anything more than my five-point cage in it. I am running 9.90-10.0 at 134-137 which is about the limit of what most tracks will allow on a regular basis without making the necessary safety adjustments. I'm pretty happy with a 9.9-137 N/A car that I can run on 93 octane and drive whenever and wherever I want to. It's fast enough for me.
