Default Bolt-on MN6s running low 12s or 11s

How is this being done? I know there is a list of the fastest bolt-on cars, but that doens't give much detail of mods.

Is it safe to assume that 4:10s and loads of traction (slicks?)would be required? How many MN6 guys are running the 10 bolt rear end?

Is tuning via LS1edit required to get the car running well enough to make the power to run 11s?

I need an additional 1.0 second off my ET, and I'm guessing the formula would be (see current mods in sig):

- 4:10 gears
- suspension upgrades (torque arm, SFCs, relocation brackets?)
- fast toys ram air or the new ram air mod (forget the name)
- pullies
- bellows
- ported TB
- tuning to nail down A/F and ignition timing

Thanks for any input, I'm trying to justify not gaining ET the easy way (cam, etc.) and keeping stock internals.

You need a good launch (1.60 60' time or better) and about 112 mph traps to get into the 11s. Most of the ET comes from the first 60 feet.

I ran a stock 10-bolt until I ran low 11s in my Formula. Then it kept busting all the time.

Thanks Nine Ball. As far as getting the 1.60 60' goes, that could be a problem. I have DRs and still struggle to get 2.0x...

Your going to need at least 114 mph to break into 11's without a crazy low 60'. Also most guys are doing 11's are running ~350rwhp. This seems to be the number needed to run the mph to break into 11's.

Also take a look at the raceweights of the cars in the 11's. Most are 3400 or less.

Weather also plays a great part in those times. I doubt many SI M6 cars are running 11's during the summer, unless it's the guys running the 3100 raceweights.

Gears are a must. I don't know of any SI m6s still running 3.42s. The 2.66 T56 first gear and 3.42s in the rear are not a good combo. It's tough to get any lower than 1.90 with the stock combo, plus it kills clutches. The 4.10s are much easier on the clutch and should give you about .3 in the quarter.

Good Luck
Mark

with bolt on's and drag radials on a stock clutch and stock 10 bolt with 3.42's, i was able to squeak out a 12.2 @ 116, then got the 12 bolt and good clutch and in the heat ran a 12.20 @ 114. drag radial 60's were 1.90 and et streets were 1.70's with 12 bolt and clutch.
race weight was probably 3500 lbs with me in it @ 210 lbs.

good luck, i had the most fun when my car was bolt on.

might wanna try contacting atwelvesec02z28 on this board. i know him and he's got an 02 z m6 also and his car has gone a best of 12.31@111 or 112mph. only mods are an mti lid, borla catback, and pro stars with 275 bfg drag radials out back, only weight reduction is jack and spare. 1.77 60ft , also the hot shoe mod . the guy who has driven his car to those times is a beast. im just a slow a4 driver but traction and practice are the best ways to lower e.t.'s IMO. those times were also on the stock clutch for a while but he just replaced it with an ls6 clutch since the stocker didnt last too long with that abuse.

My 02 SS M6 went 12.44 at 112.64 with just a lid, MACs ORY, cutout, Tb, and 17" BFG drag radials. The best mod by far was the tires getting a 1.8 on the 60 foot.

Not low twelves but close. 12.59@111mph {1.90 sixty ft.} with only a lid, pulley, 4.10 gears in the 10 bolt and drag radials. The best mph has been 112.5 but I spun and frigged up my ET.

This is a 2000 car,,,,no LS6 intake. Throw that on and a set of headers and it should be running low twelves.

It is impossible to run 11's stock internal with a six speed car.

Is a decent burnout required for 1.8's with the BFG's? Are you using a linelock?

Thx.

show off

But 01Z, rageman, and Larry01z28 were all in the 11.5-6 range bolt on stock internals

Its alot of others there also in a M6, but these guys were at the top of the pack(were top 3). They had alotta weight out, good weather, and they were ALLLLL one hellova drivers. You gotta be able to row some gears and get a good 60. I think Larry went 11.7's on nittos with just a 1.7x 60ft. Then he slapped on slicks and knocked off a 11.67 on the stock 10bolt. Next pass blew the rear Car surely had some 11.5's in her that day

My times are in the sig and I cut a 1.75 on that run spinning a little. I think I would have been real close to the 11's if I didn't have to shift into 5th. because of the 4:30's. Also I trapped 114.20 mph when I still had the stock gears and was on my nitto's. Also I just had my spare and jack out of the car at that time.

Basically just launch the car really hard and row through the gears well, that along with all the bolt-ons should get you there.

Also dont think you have to strip your car out to make it a feather weight. I ran consistant 11.9x's about a month ago with a 3600lb raceweight and a DA of +2600ft.

I did 11's with 4.10's and drag radials, mac headers, lid with filter removed, maf ends, pro 5.0 shifter.Weight reduction was removing jack/spare,back seats and put on the skinnies.
I did a 1.71 60ft and 115/116 trap speeds.

I've run the times in my sig with stock clutch, shifter, 10 bolt & gears with my only weight reduction being spare tire & jack plus skinnies up front. The slicks were mounted on salad shooters.

When I was SI, my stock clutch would not hold anything more than 4500-4800 rpm launch on Nittos. More that would make the pedal stick to the floor . With 3.42s I could only manage low 1.9s, maybe squeek into the high 1.8's every now and then. After changing to the 4.10s I was getting low 1.7s with the occasional 1.6. Some have had better luck with the stock clutch, mine put up with a ton of passes, just couldn't lauch very hard. Maybe this is why my 10 bolt held up to 11's

3.42s are tough to launch unless you are lauchning at a high rpm or have a ton of tq, they bog. It's even worse with a clutch that really grabs. This kills your 60'. Going to a lower gear takes care of almost all of that bog.

My best Bolt-on run was over 3 years ago.

Mods were, Mac Headers, Lid, Pulley. 160 stat, Flow Master Cat back, Pro 5.0, Mcleod clutch,BFG DR's, Hypertech tuning. Spare and jack were the only items removed.

12.35 @ 113.78MPH 1.78 60' 3720lb race weight

Does a "bolt on" TNT kit qualify?

No weight reductions: 1.5 60' 11.38 1/4 at 124mph. Stock engine
