Is there any cutting involved to mount this? Is it a direct bolt in replacement?

This is a direct bolt in. The frame rail holes need to be drilled out a bit and that is it.

I don't think you have to cut the actual bumper I think it is just the air deflector you have to cut, but I could be wrong. I hope I won't have to cut my bumper

The only part that you will have to cut is the flap that is pinned up to the stock support. The bumper cover actually has a line molded into it on this flap, which would work absolutely perfect as a cut line to trim the cover. ls1 speedaddict, the photo in your sig, right above fbodycentral, you can't even see it, but that flap of the bumper cover, that is what you will need to remove.

It's about 3 lbs too, and will allow plenty of air to get to the radiator, allowing you to remove all the plastic that aim's air at the radiator, another weight savings. The braces that go up to the top of the bumper cover allow you to remove the big plastic piece that goes across the front of the car, and the metal piece that attaches the plastic piece to the hood latch. Probably another 5 lbs.

This 12 lb piece, allows you to pull by my guesstimate another additional 15 lbs off the front of the car that you normally wouldn't be able to take off if you just removed the bumper support and the foam. And, the nose of the car will be nice and solid again, and allow better cooling.

For a race car, this is a no lose situation, and I'm sure once people see this part installed on some cars, the orders are gonna come flying in from every guy that's racing one of these cars.

The bottom bar will be welded completely. This is a prototype in the pics. It is a representation of the real product. The real version will not have the slip tubes and will be fully welded. Once we get a the current orders out we will work on the tabs at the bottom if needed. The best thing to do is take a cut off wheel and zip off the plastic for the bottom tabs. It will save weight and not hurt anything. You could leave it there as well. It still won't hurt.

Cutting it off will allow more air to get thru without the plastic ducting that directs air at the radiator, and should provide better cooling.

Plus, the 3 lbs you cut off will only help with weight reduction

you can leave it, but you can take it out for a little more weight reduction. I would leave the plastic on the bottom in the corners of the bumper cover to help keep it tight and not allow it to flop around at speed.
