Correct. Noone really enforces it on a factory seat, as there's no real way to do it without hacking the seat up.

But, if you were to have a stock seat in a car going bottom 8's or something like that... I have a feeling someone would be saying something.

Kind of reminds me of a 73 nova I saw at lebannon valley one time. Car was running 10.40's, with a n/a small block, had an 8.50 cert cage in it with the stock bench seat in it.... I know there wasn't any braces on that. But, I think that same car, with a couple kits on it years later was going somewhere in the 8.70 range... because I remember hearing about him getting some flack about the bench seat.

The bars that head towards the center of the car are absolutely required, but they do NOT, have to go to the tunnel. The braces where the lower portion of the rear seat is a common, and good place to put them.

I am having a cage built that has the rear bars going to the speaker panels. I had someone say that it would not pass tech because the bars must go to the floor above the gas tank. Any info on this?

I was talking to Jeffco transmissions about there 4 speed and Bruno drive and he mentioned about a 6.3 cert. For the bell housing because I run a roots blower. Looking in the rule book the way I read it is a 6.3 cert. If you have a roots blower and a clutch. Well the Bruno drive is a torque convertor. So would I need a 6.3 or the 30.1 bell housing? I see they do make a 6.3 bell housing for the Bruno though?

That would depend on your track. To be sure it's accepted anywhere, I'd look into SFI.

The NHRA rulebook info online(nhra . com) says, for 2013, a parachute is required for cars reaching at least 150mph and is listed as required only in the 9.99 or quicker brackets. So unless they made a really recent change and didn't bother to update their own rule book, I'm in the column of, "you're right and he's wrong."

Congrats on winning the $$$$!
And yes it is 150 mph when a parachute is required. Posers may attach one at any given speed....

So if I wanted to buy a helmet for a high 11 second car I should look for a SA2010 and it will be good until 2022 correct, 12 years. I'll be lucky to make it to the track more than once a year. I read on smf.org (Snell) that the SA2015 helmets are not allowed to go on sale until October 2014.

Is it possible for a 6 point cage to pass NHRA Certification for a car, (non convert or t tops) that goes 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile?

For what car?

But to answer your question in short - Yes!

WOLFE Racecraft makes bolt in 5 and 6 point set-ups that NHRA qualify for 9.99 seconds (most tracks will be lenient and let you go faster)

WOLFE also makes weld in cages too that will put you in much lower second classes as well!

http://www.wolferacecraft.com/

I have their 5 point bolt in cage with removable door bar my C5 Vette which is approved to 9.99, however like I said they are a little lenient and will let you run faster!

Thanks,Matt

This list should be updated. 5 years old is pretty outdated. I only have a copy of the 2012 NHRA rulebook. Anybody have the 14'/15' book that we could bounce things off of?
