Chris Gage thanx for your answers I will research more about suspension and what I have. For now I just have to decide whether to spend money on tires, cause until they arrive here across the ocean it will be beginning of May already, so I'm kinda in a hurry about them and also about drag shocks (heard front shocks/springs would help a lot)

Paul: I'll do it so that if they do not allow me to race with battery in trunk, then I'll just put it back in front and throw off cables to save few pounds if I pass inspection as-is, I will just enjoy more traction (hopefully)

LOL who the hell told you that? Moving the engine back 11"s would have a huge effect on the weight distribution of the car. The difference from pulling the tire 1" talking off and hitting the back tires hard enough to make it do a back flip would be about the difference

As far as the torque arm using the upper hole will hit the tires harder, which will happen when you raise the instant center, since you are adding more anti squat.

Relocating the battery isn't a big difference but it adds up when you add in the other weight reductions, taking 30 pounds of the front end is a big deal when you start removing bumpers, a/c, and power steering, then you have k-members and all the other reductions, opinions vary, but you'll save as much weight off the front as getting a new k-member and a-arms.

If you want it to be track legal buy one of the battery boxes and mount it up, my battery is mounted in the trunk and was one of the first things I did when I got my camaro back in 98.

You can use all of your existing wires, you just run a long cable from the starter to the battery in the rear, then you run a new alternator wire from the alternator to the back, to be track legal you need a kill switch in the back and a battery box.

I can give you details of what to buy if you want to go track legal, or if you just want to mount it in the back I can tell you how to do that too and what to buy.

I think I just want to put it in the back now and hope for the best. Don't want to cut bumper to install kill switch and so on.
Tell me what's the thread on the wires that connect to the battery? It's not metric unfortunately

99% sure it is 3/8's corse thread. I gtg buy an engine hoist I'll post how to do it and give you links to parts when I get back, BTW if you have a big stereo system let me know so you get the right size alternator cable.

I'd recommend an optima battery size it is sealed and won't vent or leak crap in your car and I would put it in the spare tire hump, they make a bracket to hold it there.

I don't think I can get Optima around here...
Anyway I think I'll be OK, just wanted to know thread size yesterday I experimented a bit. With 7GA wires didn't start at all, added some wires to make it 4GA total - started fine but saw voltage drop a bit at the gauge when cranking. Now I'm trying to find 2GA wire here

Use a 2 ga wire from the battery to the starter and run a 6ga wire from the alternator to the starter. That will charger the battery and let it start good.

why do you need wire from alternator to starter?

P.S. please change your signature, it doesn't hurt my feelings at all cause I know my Silvia is a great car, but still

i hope you took people's advice and got some sticky tires, that seems to be your problem. as far as a battery, you can also run a lightweight battery up front if you don't want to relocate it. i have an odyssey pc680

the race battery was 14 lbs compared to my stock battery which was 34 lbs. For $140, not bad for a 20 lb weight savings up front.

Look in the sponsor sales. There is a thread about an 11lb battery. So far proven to be a good one and starts the car up everytime. Been thinking about getting it. Maybe when money allows...

I got 28x11.5 ET Drags, so that's not a problem. I really want to know gains from relocating battery, cause both of my street/strip cars still have it in front. I need to decide if I should bother. So I wanted to see some real world info. Everyone says "relocate" and no one says what gains were registered

Works great, no complaints. You can mount it in any position and it fits tight in the factory battery tray. I would never use it in a daily driver though, my car is for the weekend/track only. In the winter, I'll probably put the stocker back in but the weight savings is nice with the odyssey.
