Default Want Consistent Car

What are some of the best ways to build a consistent car in the 1/4 mile? In
South La, the air changes on the 1/2 hour and the car can fluctuate as much as 0.30 in the 1/4 and 0.10 in the 60' on a particular night.

What are mods that can help reduce this variation (other than driver mod)?

Run a larger tire than you need, 325 50 15 vs a 275 60 15, the tire itself has more traction potential, so it'll spin less when you go to tracks that don't prep well. Buy adjustable torque arm, LCA's , anti roll bar and panhard rod, get relocation brackets and get the right shocks and springs.

Then get some track time and take someone with you that knows how to tune a chassis and get the car setup right. Once you have the shocks, anti roll bar and instant center setup right, you just make passes and add more power until you get traction issues then you have to retune the chassis.

yes, bigger tire will always help with inconsistent tracks or weather.

without knowing the mods, weather will cause even the best bracket cars to vary on the e.t. somewhat. But a tenth on the 60 foot means you are not consistently hooking, running the car at the same temperature or rpm launch point.

I've run a day race from morning til night and my 60 foots only vary by a hundredth or two unless the track goes away or my burnout was off.

Consistency is getting a game plan of soing the same thing every time you race. If you can do this the car and your times will become more consistent. Adding a weather station and lodbook to your track items to help predict your dials will also help out.

A lot of it depends on your suspension setup. Given how much the 60 ft. varies work on getting it to hook first and downtrack should take care of itself. Post what suspension mods are done and I'm sure there are plenty on here that can dissect it and tell you what needs to be done.

Chart your performance. Weather and track conditions change. Sounds like you run the same track. History of past performance will assist in dialing the expected perforemance for your car.

get a weather station which will help you by recording your e.t with the weather conditions. next, do everything the same way at the track, tire pressure, water temp, burnout, staging rpm at launch, etc..good luck

so, to do the water temp thing, I guess I need an electric water pump (that's not belt driven) and manual switch for the fans?

no..just watch the water temp guage and make certain you run at the same temp each time..you may have to cool down a half hour or so between runs to do this. You don't need an electric pump. I have the manual fan switch from SLP works great.

.

Alcohol will give you the biggest ET window per DA change. Takes much more DA to change ET on alcohol than gasoline.
