Yeah I'm going EFI and that was one of the main reasons why. Running a carb you run into all sorts of clearance issues with the hood and cowl.

i didnt have any clearance issues.... u have to drop the motor down lower... mine sits about 2.5" lower than the one above.... but it only looks like about 1.5" becuase i have a large nitrous plate on it.

What's the rest of your setup? Dropping the motor down means you have to drop the trans and all the mounting points move as well for crossmember, torque arm, driveshaft angle changes, shifter, cables, etc.

check out my thread in this section... its a motorplate, midplate car... and dropping the motor actually gives you a better DS angle with putting headers on... my motor leans back only 1* so the ange from motor to rear end is almost* perfect.... its going to be a custom cross member...

9.800 deck BBC with twin turbos, AFR 335 cnc head, super victor intake, MSD 7 digital, still deciding belt driven fuel pump vs. big electric pump and a blow through carb.

After thinking about going nitrous with a big inch BBC and long term cost vs. long term performance potential, two turbos will do anything plus more. I'm getting the B/W S480's which are only 900 a piece and I've seen 2 of them push 2100 hp on a 509, which is way more than I plan to make, I'll probably start around 1200 hp and work my way up. 6,500 rpm with moderate boost and soft tune will last pretty much forever.

I'm pretty much building what they have here on the video turned way down

335 cc isn't big for a 500" big block, I like the AFR because it flows good on the exhaust and has the 3/4" deck.

you'd be suprised what a 509 with a 315cc head can do.... one of our cars is a RHS small runner head runs 6.20's all day as a bracket car.... we put a double cross bar plate on it and ran 5.5x's like it was nothing... a turbo car will do it much easier...

we guessed that our car made around 1150-1200 on the small kit in the 509 with 315CC heads and about 12:1 CR

If I went any lower, my oil pan would be dragging the ground (PA Racing K member, Moroso 8 quart pan, front motorplate).

Another easy fix is just to turn the carb 90 degrees.

As far as suspension goes, I have Wolfe LCA's, BMR anti-roll, BMR panhard, and S&W torque arm. Best 60' was 1.31 with the back tires and squatting real bad (went with a mini-tub over the winter, have yet to get the adjustable LCA mounts for the rear).

The car is real mild (29.5" tire, 4:11 gears, 30 deg timining) and I only rev to 6700rpm to make it last, but it still pulls quite well with the pooch setup.

What hedders do you run? I have Super Comps off an earlier (70's/80's) Camaro and they fit alright, but the collectors are rather low as well. To protect all of that, we fabricated a 1 5/8" core support that also acts as a good jack point and an "oh sh*t bar" for landing after decent wheelies. So far it has held up and there is not a scratch on the hedders or the engine diaper/oil pan.

mine are the hooker 2245's i believe from a 70's camaro also... but i dont think they are the super comps.... we cut the driver side collector flange off and tilted the motor forward since it was leaned back so far... we built the car around the headers and motor

the motor sits about1/4" off the manual rack and the headers have about 1/2" from the floor... we trimmed a little notch (1" radius) from the firewall where the hvac was to move the motor back another 1"...

we should have the motor back in the car in another 2 weeks or so... ill get some pics then....

we spend a good 8 hours getting the motor mocked up and moved and tilted just how we wanted it to fit with the 150$ headers we used...lol

I'm going to run a full length pan on mine it saves a lot ground clearance wise.
