Not sure if its because its an optima. But make sure the little clips on the front and side are not broken. One of mine were and caused the same problem.

for your safety and the the track the battery must be bolted down.

if you are on a budget you can get some muffler strap. it comes in a roll and has multiple holes for holding up a muffler. works good for mounting other items on a budget.

if you want to spend some cash there are a bunch of custom optima battery mounts that look trick

I fabricated a hold down bracket that goes across the top and is held by 2 rods which bolt to the bottom tray.

I have since switched to an odyssey, but when I had my optima red top in the Camaro...it fit fine with the stock mount also.

NHRA/IHRA listed you have to use 3/8 rod/bolts. Legally to pass tech.

Optimas fit fine in the stock tray until the front tabs break. Something is different about the optimas that causes it to break, some may get lucky and it not break, but most are not so lucky.

Ya, same here. I ran a PC680 flat last year, and it seamed fine. Noticed this year it cracked the tray. Im changing that setup anyway.

Had an Optima in mine since 2005 and she's snug with no problems on the stock tray and mount.

DId you run the battery hold down that came with the optima battery. They come with the battery to use instead of the factory ones

I have a battery hold down bracket that is NHRA legal and bolts into the stock mounting hole if you want it. I went to the little Dyna-batt, so I have no use for it anymore. PM me if you're interested.

Call Year One, they make a battery hold down for broken trays. It bolts to the core support and the factory hold down bolt.

It's like $15

That's the one I use. Fits perfect and holds the battery down nice and tight.
