dont forget to do the 2" drop spindle kit that race craft makes... it will help with your weight and its not much more than the regular 93-02 camaro strange front brake kit...

i would drive with them every now and then... but thats just me.... thats up to you... we drive our 69 on the street that has race struts. its only for a 20 mile cruise that is mandatory for the class we run....
just stay clear of bumps and pot holes.... has to be a lot easier on them then hanging the wheels 3 feet in the air and slamming down about 80' out on the track

The racecraft spindle with drag brakes I think is 46lb savings according to racecraft. My strange saved right at 35 I believe. So it sounds like another 11. 50 sounds more like what I want, but I don't know about taking myself out of stock suspension classes for a few more lbs.

that wouldnt take you out of stock suspension classes..... as long as it bolts on its fine.... you've done more to get you thrown out by chopping off you car before the radiator support than the 2'' drop spindle.... they will bitch when the look at the front of your car .... just wait

What did you use to cut the frame? The cuts look nice and smooth. My main concern with doing this would be making sure everyhting is level, the same length, and straight. How did you confirm all of this? I checked out a lot of pictures I've taken of my car so far and this doesn't seem that difficult other than the things I just addressed.

I cut with a 4.5" angle grinder. And used a 4.5" flap disc to sand them smooth and make the cuts perfect. I just eyeballed everything, but I have a pretty good eye. Mark your line where you want it, cut it just short of it and use the sanding disc to get it down perfect to where you want it. That's what I've always done.
I think I'm going with a spindle mount shock setup to save the most weight. We don't have any street suspension classes around here to race in, there isn't enough people to race. So I'm looking hard at Santhuff and will look for others as well. I think P/A makes one and I know AJE does. I weighed the entire front suspension piece by piece today so I can estimate the weight reduction.

Yeah, I don't think we could be any further away from each other. Mine's going to be a little different with the head light mounts. I don't think there's as much hood clearance with the 93-97s either, but I'm not sure. I'm going to try and incorporate a trans cooler, radiator, ac condensor, and intercooler in there. It'll be a little packed, but still make working on the car a ton easier. I'm going to have it all welded so there's as little nuts and bolts as possible.

I always said I like cutting, chopping, and fab'ing (dropping weight) more than I do racing the car. Almost seems like the more I cut, the more I find to cut because I'm more confident and have the means to make it better/fix it.
Believe it or not, when the car rolls out of the garage this year it will be 550lbs or so lighter than my 10.82 heads/cam car back in 03. It's mind boggling how this stuff is adding up.
