Default any cons to bullets off the collectors??

I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to getting rid of my current setup of 4" pipe off the 3.5" collectors going into 4" inlet/4" outlet dynomax bullets and 4" turndowns to a straight bullet right off the collector. The engine is controlled by FAST XFI and uses a wideband but i'm thinking it would be fine considering with a dynomax bullet it would be about 15" from the end of the exhaust....

Other than weight reduction are there any other benefits or drawbacks to not using pipe off the collectors up into mufflers later on downtrack????

I'm running 3" bullets straight off the collectors with turndowns, that's it.
SD tuning is fine, plenty of pipe.
With 4" you're definitely going to need to clearance the floor boards. I had to in one spot with only 3".
Very loud, lightweight, flows really well, and cheap. Can't go wrong. Street car, too.

I run 3.5" spiral flows off my Edelbrocks. It took some very very minor massaging of the floorboard, but nothing bad. Beyond that, you could go with an oval muffler, but they tend to be a little more $$$. I have my "dream eyes" set on the Bola XR1's in a 3.5 oval....too bad they are as expensive as the headers on the car!

I'm running 3" x 12" Dynamax bullets slipped directly on the collectors. Basically, they function like collector extensions. I added them for the Heads-Up N/A class muffler requirement at the LTX Shoot-Out.

I'm in the middle of a th400 swap right now and I have my x-pipe with dynomax bullets off the car. I was thinking of just cutting the bullets off the back of the x-pipe and using them right after the headers before I get it back on the road. Figured it would make up for a little bit of the extra weight and maybe I could pick up a few ponies as well.

My question is, for those of you who are still running O2 sensors, have you had any negative affects or does the muffler give it enough room for them to last?

I would imagine you would pick up a little on the top. I would think that you would be fine with the O2's with 12"+ of pipe. I would ask your tuner to be sure, though.

Daniel, are you using dynomax bullets also? Mine's loud as hell, but it's a street car. It's probably not that loud compared to a track car.

Yah you'll be fine. All you need is 12 inches of pipeing off a collector to have safe back pressure.

At what point does your exhaust terminate? I'm looking for mine to exit behind the windows.
