Default LS2 Intake on LS1

I have a friend who has an ls2 GTO. He is sellin his LS2 intake and cam. How well would the intake work on my LS1? I have a 99 Trans Am if it makes a difference.

The cam is 230-230-585-595@ 113. It is made for a LS2. Would this cam work in my 99 trans am?

Have any of you done anything of this sort? if so i would appriciate some advice.

I was running an LS2 intake + LS2 rails in my Camaro and recently swapped to a ported FAST 92mm. I would go OEM LS6 intake over the LS2.

I can't find anyone that thinks the LS2 is as good as the LS6. I'd love for somoeone to say otherwise though.

I'm not really sure. I'd love to see a thread in one of the engine sections comparing the intakes. Matt and Bill seem to swear by porting the LS2 intakes though.

I went faster, in worse weather, with a ported LS2 intake and 90mm throttle body vs a LS6 intake and ported 78mm throttle body. This was on my bolton car that makes peak power a tad before 6200rpm and shifts at 6500. A H/C car would see even more of a gain. But what do Bill and I know, our cars are slow!

Put one on this guy's car, see what it does. I went with the ported 92mm FAST because I'm working Ron @ Vengeance on the combo.

Did a quick google...

----------------------------

http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_06...tor/index.html
The LS6 intake not only produced more peak power than the LS2, but it also outperformed the newer-style manifold from 3,700 to 6,500 rpm. We suspect that if the LS6 intake had been configured with a 90mm throttle opening, the difference would have been even more dramatic. Based on this test, it looks like (non-Z06) C6 owners would do well to swap out their factory intake for an LS6 unit.

Not if the LS2 is ported. Sorry, but it has been proven. Not just by me either, but others as well.

We put a ported LS2 intake ,injectors & rails on Melissa GTO it made 310 hp
325 torque before swap then made 306 hp 335 torque

we lost 4hp but gained 10 lbs of torque and it kept the same power curve, we where happy it was a cheap swap for us to do

I'm under the assumption that the ls6 is better for na cars but the ls2 is better for boosted cars. Isn't Speed Inc running an LS2 on their shop car?
