Default Guys with kirkey seats....got a question.

I had a guy offer me a grand for my leather seats in my WS6. I was planning on putting kirkey pro seats in soon, once I get the cage. But he wants the seats know. It would take me at least a few weeks to get the cage, and install it. So I would be seatless.

My question is can I mount the kirkey pro seats to just the floor, or do I need a roll bar for a rear support?

You can mount them to the floor. I have seen several cars gutted with kirkys but no cage.

You need the rollbar for support.

I can tell you though, if you have someone that will give you a grand for the stock seats, sell them quick, and then deal with getting the kirkey's mounted in with the rollbar after, that grand is enough to just about pay for, if not pay for a custom 6 pt.

The kirkey will bolt to the floor with two bolts. You can get by driving it, but don't be stupid until you can brace the back.

i modified a set of corbeau seat brackets. used 4 bolts in the bottom. and of course the back brace uses 2 bolts. the back 2 bolts mount directly to the bracket and the front two requried spacers. and i used fender washers at the seats (on the aluminum) to help spread the load out if anything bad happens.

Take that G fast, I was happy to get $400 for mine in perfect condition. You can use the kirkeys without the roll cage just wait to race it until you get the cage.

Good luck mounting them on the floor.. I thought for sure that I was gonna mount mine directly on the floor so I threw the seat in there and hopped in it.. MISTAKE.. I'm 6'4 and I can't see a damn thing out of it like that.. Of course I have a Sunoco extd hood, but I still can't see the front end or tell where its at really. I'm gonna raise mine up an inch or two and let it ride.. The way my cage is built the main bar is about 4-5 inches further back than most peoples so with the seat all the way back against the bar I could lay my legs out completely flat on the floor board. Definitely a weird feeling.. I'm gonna raise it up a couple inches and move it forward 4-5 inches probably..

Guys, I appreciate all the responds. Yea I am going to order the kirkeys probably tommarow, and once they get here fab something out of aluminum to work for know. The roll bar is going in once I get down to texas. Probably will have Wolfe do it, Ive heard really good things about them. Once they are in I will post some pictures.

Will the stock seat belts work for know? That is my only other concern. THANKS

Now that would look weird. Honestly, The stock seat belts would probably be more dangerous than good wearing them. They are built to work with the stock seat. Putting a Kirkey seat in it will throw off the angle of the seat belt, and thereby reduce it's safety benefits. Besides, old school latch-style harnesses are pretty cheap.

Well I didnt want to buy 5-ways that bolt to the floor because I will be getting a cage soon. If I purchase the wrap around style is there anyway to rig it up if you dont have a rollcage, or rollbar? Sounds kinda like a stupid question, I know but.......

Just use stock for now just so you don't get a ticket, you won't be protected like they are made to but it will work. Just don't rear end anybody. I was never a firm believer in wearing seat belts anyway, I only started wearing it after a few tickets. Racing is a different story, until you get the whole set-up in, you better drive it like a grandma.

The stock seat belt will work.. I just watched my friend running 7.30's (1/8th) with a kirkey mounted to the floor and stock belt... Looked goofy as hell, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

Look for pics of Matt_D's car. It was rigged up that way for a while. I think he used the rear seat bolt hole for the over the shoulder straps if i remember correctly.

I hear you man on the playing it safe. But Kirkeys are so badass, I WANT THEM I am going to make a plate/bar system to mount the 5-ways with no cage. I am going to make it mount to the stock rear seat mounts. If anyone has pictures of this, or plans please let me know. Also if you have a draw-up for the kirkey mounts to our cars that would be AWESOME!!!!
