Default 315 Sumitomo PSI

I'm going to the track this Saturday with the new tires (315 Sumitomos on a 17" rim). Granted they're DD tires, but I was hoping for some sub 2.0 60' times this time around, haha. Hoping for 12's!

What air pressure should I start at?
Also, about where on the tach should I launch at?

Car weighs about 3450 with me. Mods in sig. Thanks in advance

Good luck getting below 2.0 with them, they are not all that sticky. I would start at 25psi and go from there.

I was the first run of the night at our local drag strip after they just sprayed VHT down. with my 383, 3500-4000 stall, full weight car I cut a 1.95 60'. The tires were at 30-32 psi. light burnout to get the rocks and other garbage off the tires.

however, after that first one, I couldn't dip below a 2.0. most were 2.1-2.2.

I was running 315 sumitomos on 17" TT2s.

Cool, That's awesome you got 1.95. Pretty good for the Sumi's, the best I could do with them is a 2.2 with 27 psi.

30psi seems to work best, but they still suck.

Lower the pressure as I said above. My 60's were all above 2.2 untill I lowered the pressure. Playing around with it I found 21 to be the best for me. Too much and they got worse too little and they got worse.

If you get them hot, just like any other street tire, they will get really greasy really fast. So no John Force burnouts for you!

Just in case you weren't aware...

Sweet. So little/no burnout, start at 30 psi and drop it from there, then save up for drag radials.. lol

And that's interesting about how they get greasy quick. I've never heard of that, I was planning on a long burn out (new to racing). Would Nitto DR's benefit from a decent burnout?
