You can't weld steel or chorme-moly to aluminum. So you have to weld or bolt steel plate 6x6 inch, 1/8 inch thick to the floor,to attach the cage.

Are you sure that is correct? Obviously you can't welt steel to aluminum, but the NHRA rule book states that cars that have an OEM frame must have the roll cage attached to the frame. Note that it uses the word attached instead of welded.

Thanks...I'm not thrilled with the idea, but you gotta do what you gotta do if you wanna run it.

This may sound like a newb ?, but isn't your car a subframe car? If so you should be good with 6x6 plates bolted to the floor.

I thought* you could attach the 6x6 plates with (4) 3/8 bolts? At least it used to be like that.

We have a 25.5 C6Z sitting behind me right now. It was built by a friend of ours down at our shop to spec. It has it's sticker already. I would definitely check with your inspector first, as he did, because everyone might have a little difference of opinion on the matter. There is aluminum plates welded direct, drilled and tapped for 1/2" hardware and then the cage secured to steel plates.

How much dose that steel plating add to weight? And how does drilling holes to the aluminum do for integrity?
