I've had the car for about 5 yrs, bought it from 2nd owner. 1st owner was Louisiana State Police.

Wesley Robertson is West Monroe, La worked on the heads and has the flow bench. Yes it's the stock valves, '05 317's, and I was impressed with the #'s myself.

how's it coming along? your progress from last year and early this year sounds much like mine. i did get to run my 346 a few times, but i killed number 1 rod bearing in it. got the new 370 all together to only put a few miles on it before i wiped the bearings in it. it's now at the shop being put together properly (instead of me doing it) and should be going back in the car sometime late this month. to add insult to injury, i killed a "fresh" 4l60e/PI vig converter combo as well just two weeks ago. so now i'm going th400 and found myself selling the injection and buying carb stuff...the only difference between mine and your builds is that mine is in a thirdgen...

It was the #1 rod bearing in my 346 as well.

All my pcs got dropped off with my builder yesterday. Last thing to get will be the pushrods once I know how long they need to be. I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought the Morel link bar lifters... that was a hard pill to swallow. It's possible that mine could be together by the end of the month as well. Other things I've picked up along the way are Pavlock double adj LCA's, upgraded stock rockers(built myself), and some sheetmetal valve covers.

Got my Morels today, and after seeing them and comparing them to stock types I can see what all the talks about. It's like holding a Walmart cheap Black-n-Decker drill in one hand, and a high-dollar Rigid in the other.

This thing has really lasted a long time, here's the latest...

4l60 got sold w/ conv
Bought new Art Carr PG w/ Conv, 3800 stall, transbrake, 1.80 straight cut, yada, yada

Motor and trans together and set in the car, will get the x-member modded for the PG and measure for a driveshaft.

Finally got to the track last night and made some passes. Car just blows the tires off the transbrake. Was able to get some passes in babying it off the line, leaving at about 1800 rpm off the footbrake, shifting at 6500. 275/60 radials. Having a terrible time getting traction. I'll post a video up later.

1.64 60'
7.14 1/8th @ 98 mph
11.14 1/4 @ 122 mph

This is a 9.5 to 1 408ci running on 93 octane pump gas, built for a 300 shot. I figure when I get the suspension tuned up where I can leave off the brake @ 4000 rpm, and push the shift points to around 7000 it should be well into the 10's on motor.

Then "Hello 9's on the spray!".

It's been over 2 yrs, 2 motors, 2 transmo's, and lots of frustration since I started this thread... ridiculous!

That's pretty good for having little traction. Nice build, some vids would be great!

Nice build, I just noticed you said Twin City was your home track. I run there as well, plan on going back on the 16th for TnT.

You going to get a slick under the *** end and lay down some times or fight the radials? In time it will lay down some nasty times.

I was there this past Friday night. Actually went some 2 rounds in the Gamblers race and then lost in the third when my throttle cable pulled out of the socket where it hooks to the carb linkage... at least it was an easy fix, took about 5 min.

At 1800 rpm, leaving on the last yellow, car is dialed in on a good light... .572 was the worst light all night, mostly .51x-.52x and one .502. Also went red once with a .496. It was a hoot loading up super-pro cars on radials and footbrake.

I'm going to fight the 275/60 for a little while before I go with slicks. The goal all along was to have a "street legal" car.

Nice, maybe I will see you there some time. I agree stick with the radials, I run a 275/50 and have no problems hooking. Hoping to get in the 9s next weekend.

Good luck with the radials. A DOT bias cheater slick is just as legal as the radial. It would be ideal to change over to a bias front runner if you go bias.
