Default Light weight hood ??????

I was wondering which light weight hood to go with? Need to buy one. If any of you have one please chime in ..
1.) Brand
2.) weight of hood
3.) where to get the best buy.

Thanks

VFN 2.5" cowl pin-on hood here... Like Colonel said, there's a banner to the right.

The fit is great and took minimal work to prep for paint. Total weight is ~13lbs. or so.

What does the factory steel hood weigh? (98 Camaro)

Sounds like a substantial weight savings with these hoods.

My cousins SS hood weighs a little bit more than my Z28 hood. It's enough to notice though.

I just ordered a bolt on VFN hood. It has the weight listed as 18 pounds on their web site. That's a 37 pounds weight savings. That's a nice savings!

What is the difference between bolt on and pin on? Obviously I take it pin on requires the hood pins - does it use 2 pins at the front and stock hinges? And does bolt on mean it bolts to the hinges and uses a latch just like the factory piece?

I was told by VFN that I use all my factory hardware and hinges. Don't know about the pin on.

I just weighed my stock 98 Camaro hood and it weighs 48 pounds. I have a new VFN stock looking bolt on hood that weighs 22 pounds. They advertise 18 pounds for this hood. The body shop said painting will add about 3 pounds. Not quite the weight savings I had hoped for but still a good savings.

Larry,

I want to buy the same hood you have, but have couple of questions? How well does it fit? Does it use all the factory hardware(latch & shocks)? Or did you have to put hood pins? Sorry about all the questions, but I am undecided also .

Thanks
Rod

Rod,

I have not installed the hood yet. I have set it on the car and it appears to fit good. I am having it painted today so will be able to let you know more about fit in a couple days.

It does have provisions for the factory hinges, latches and shocks. No hood pins are used.

VFN hood is on the car.

I'm a little disappointed with the edges but other than that the hood fits good. I was hoping the body shop could have done better on the edges but they said they couldn't.

By the way, it gain no more than about 1/2 pound from the painting. The painter told me it would gain 3 pounds. Not!
