You could go either way with the weight you're at. If the 400 is working good for you, freshen it up and keep going. If you are ready to spend some $$$, get a glide. It certainly won't hurt the car, and your converter will work with it as well, although it will probably have to be re-stalled.

I think it would go slower with a glide at your level, if you're not putting it on the bumper every pass I wouldn't touch a glide. Why spend the extra money?

I'd rebuild the Th400. They're good until you're at about 900 to 1000 rwhp, then they become a reliablilty concern. You had a fluke or something stupid go wrong in yours, at your power level it should have never done what it did.

Glide will be stronger, but you're talking what 1000 bucks to redo the Th400, to buy a fully built glide you're talking about 5000 with the dedenbar case.

I'd have to agree with Baked, With the fat power curve of a nitrous car and a fairly light weight the glide would be the way to go.
You may not need a high end glide. I would put the bogey at 750 HP before stepping up to the aftermarket case route.

Can he get away with a regular case? I'm sure, but I wouldn't screw around with one I would just do the SFI case now and save yourself the headache of having to run the tranny shield and all that.

You got a point there, especially with a stock tunnel. I remember hammering out a tunnel years ago trying to get a shield to fit.

Yeah. I have a CSR carbon shield on top of my TH400, and it fits, barely. It does rub/vibrate a little bit, but I'll take that over a drum paying me a visit in the car.

I am at about the same power level as 1984 is, our cars don't run that much different either. I have probably 50 motor passes on my tranny and a good 15 nitrous runs now and have had zero problems. I don't think a 3300 lb car at around 650 rw is really gona benefit from the glide, 900+ yeah you will be better off, but not at 650, or even with a 250 shot uppping it to 800, I don't think it's really needed.

Granted a glide would have probably stopped me from going on the bumper a month ago LOL, but that's another story all together

Sounds like it was a bad build from the get go. Sucks, but now you have someone putting it togeher the right way from the sounds of it, so it should be bullitproof when it's done.

I run a CSR shield with my DRC TH400. I've looked into the glide and basically if you run in the 9's and 10's it's not really a must-have upgrade.
