Need to drop .3 to get 12s. help
What would be the cheapest way to get 12s? My best so far is a 13.2@102. I was thinking one of the following....
3.73 gears
Pacesetter long tubes
LS6 intake(probably not good for 3/10ths)
thanks.

You sound like me, I'm wanting to get in the 12s too. I only need .035 seconds!!!!
I think a torque converter would be your best bet.
In my case I think I may need a better clutch so I can get a little better 60'. I was launching about 4000, and I think the clutch was slipping a little too much.

I'd upgrade the converter. A 1.85 60 ft leave lots to be desired if that was dead hooking on BFGs.
Other cheap mods would be an ASP pully, FTRA, and a cuttout. I'd also do the free mods if I hadn't already.
Gears are a pretty weak bang for your buck mod. I'd skip 'em for now.

If your tires are hooking up thats a pretty weak 60 Ive got a VIG2800 and my best 60 so far is a 1.670 Just seems kinda slo imo. Then again whats your raceweight do you have loads of stereo equipment in there?

Re: Need to drop .3 to get 12s. help
I have no added weight to my car, It does have all the power options, t-tops and stock ground effects. I did remove the spare tire, though.
It felt like my tires could be spinning a little, but not like street tires. I just brake stalled until about 1500 and hammered it. The tires were 275/40/17s @ 32psi.
My 330' and 1/8 times really improved with this converter. Before I ran with drags, I was on 245/50/16 Kumhos and had the same 60'(2.1) and dropped .4 in the 1/8. With just the converter my best 1/4 went from a 13.9 to 13.4, same 60'(2.1) and then to 13.2 with tires.

Same question with the cut-out, would I gain anything over the cat-back?
Thanks for any advise!

Maybe someone with an Ultra Z hood could tell you. I'm not familiar with that hood. The FTRA I KNOW works.
No catback can match the flow of a cuttout...although the Loudmouth would be close, I believe.
You need a better 60ft. That's your biggest problem. Your MPH's not so great either, but weather and altitude might explain that (what were they?)

sounds like your pretty high
I am at 5600ft elevation and the avg DA around here is about 8000 ft.
MPH isn't to far off from yours.
I am guessing ~4000ftelevationg?

If you think your tires are slipping, thats half your problem. Do yourself a favor and drop them down to 25psi to take care of that. Other than that torque conv. and gears will definetely put you in the 12's, but for a pretty penny..

Re: Need to drop .3 to get 12s. help
My track is at 1200', so it isn't elevation. My car has always ran slow in all kinds of weather, spring, summer and fall. my BEST stock mph 100, with a few 99s.
After I added the hood, exhaust and lid it went up to 102.
After the converter I had one 13.4 @ 103 run.
My best(13.2) was just this month(hotter weather). But it was also my first run of the night. I basically ran right after an 45 minute drive, my times got worse as night went on.
Maybe I have 98' false knock? but I don't have ATAP or anything like that.

1200 ft is nothing to sneeze at but I agree. Your MPH is still low. You need to get Autotapped and make sure that thing is running right.
It could be that your old '98 is getting tired too. How many miles?
Don't underestimate how much what seems like a little tire spin can hurt your ET. Traction is all to important. I'm not happy with a run unless there was ZERO tire spin.
