Default Harlan - 2-step/nitrous question

I can't figure out to to get the nitrous to turn off with the 2 step on using the relay output wire(yellow).
Do I use the white or gray wire also?(I have them parallel).
Does anybody else run a 2 step and nitrous on here?

I need a clue... any schemetics?(sp)

Assuming you are a 6 speed

Gray wire to the clutch switch, Blue PCM connector pin 32 (gray wire on the harness)

White wire to a momentary pushbutton switch, other side of switch to ground

a typical automotive relay, you need one that has 5 terminals, not 4.

yellow wire to terminal 85, 12V to terminal 86. Intercept your power feed or WOT switch arming for the system. Basically cut that circuit, and splice in the relay using terminals 30 and 87a. When the 2 step activates, the relay should open and disconnect the 30 and 87a terminals. Those are the normally closed connections of the relay

Depending on how you wire it, you can use 87 to run a light or something if you have 12v on terminal 30.

Okay,
I run the 2 step off a push button on the shifter.(it is a 6 speed)
I have a relay that powers the solenoids(87),the WOT switch(86),a window switch(85) and power(30).(middle one is empty)

is the middle prong 87a ?

Do I split the yellow relay into the power line(30)and the empty middle prong?

BTW-i've been running the 2 step for a while and it kicks ***,I'm just now putting on nitrous.

Ahh, ignore the white and gray wire stuff then

You need to add ANOTHER relay, that is run by the 2 step.

yes, the middle one is normally 87a

on the new relay, yellow wire to 85, 12V to 86. You can use the 12 provided by your arming switch.

splice the new relay in where you now supply power at 30 on the existing relay. Basically take the power wire off 30 and move it to the new relay, then jumper between 87a of the new one, to 30 of the old one.

The yellow wire isn't intended to run much more than a relay or light, connecting it to the noids would definately let the smoke outta the 2 step

So-
The new relay will have yellow wire(2 step)on 85.
power line(formerly on 30 of the old relay)on 86
a line going from 87a(on the new relay) to 30(on the old relay.

The old relay will have the window switch on 85
the noids on 87
the line from the new relay on 30.
microswitch on 86
87a is empty.

Sound about right?

I appreciate your help.

yep, except
power line(formerly on 30 of the old relay)on 86
It goes to 86 and 30 on the new one. Gotta get power to the noids

Okay...preliminary testing shows it does not work.

I split the battery source into 2 lines and ran them to 30 and 86 on the new relay.2 step is on 85.87a goes to 30 on the old relay.
Old relay is wired like before(described above)
I was by myself and I tried it a few times.
Instead of bogging on fuel,it just tach'd up when I let go of the 2 step.(microswitch is engaging)
I will double check every connection(again) tomorrow.
Any thoughts?

how a relay works-(?)

85 is a ground
86 needs a 12v source
30 needs a 12v source
87 sends power(?)
87a sends power when 87 doesn't?

I have a headache

I appologize for bringing back such a old thread, but this is the newest thread I could find relating to my question. 01-Z, were you ever able to find a solution to the problem? I will be installing a TNT F-1003 kit with the same exact relay situation you had, and I will also be installing a Harlen two step (If it ever comes).

Would it be possible to have pin 85 share both the yellow wire from the Harlen 2 step and the ground wire coming from the window switch?

If the wire from the active window switch (within RPM range) is grounded to 85 I still believe the yellow wire from the active 2 step would negate the ground from the window switch untill the 2 step was deactivated.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ross

Perhaps Harlen or anyone else could chime in and let me know if this wiring setup looks ok.

I appologize for the crude drawing, paint shop is the only thing I have access to at the time.

Edit: I believe the Harlen Two step supplies ground through the yellow wire when it is actively limiting the RPM. Anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks Again

Ross
