Default Sooo close! what can i do?

Hey i have a 95 Z and i've been running 13.1's lately and would like to try to hit a 12.999999 or even a 13.0 this sunday. my best run is is 13.14. Iam wondering if there is anything very cheap if not free, and easy to drop me that little bit extra i need.

My set up is a 95 Z (LT1) mods are, K&N FIPK, Hooker cat-back, !cat after y-pipe, 3200vig stall, and ET Streets. i also have !backseats and !sparetire and jack.

I have no trouble hooking up, so i just want to know if there is anything easy i can do to get me the lil extra bit.

any help?

I was stuck at 13.1 for a while myself, 1.6 rockers, headers, dumped exhaust, and 3.73 gears took me from 13.1 in good weather to 12.6 in bad weather. From there I took out more weight and a bunch of tweeks, and suspension stuff to get to where I am now.

Take your carpet out, there should be factory padding and insulation, should be worth 20 pounds. Remove the front sway bar, should be an easy 15 pounds.

Hell even ditch the side seat, every little bit helps.

You can put it all back in when your done, except the padding.

And if you did the backseats, I hope you did the rear seat belts.

Also overflow tank and washer fluid.

Find 25lbs of stuff you don't need LOL

Back seats, rear carpet padding, floormats, sparetire/jack, front swaybar, panels in the hatch area, drain your wiper fluid .......
It adds up quickly.

Don't show up to the track with a full tank of gas. You can make quite a few passes with 1/4.
Leave the laptop, tools and jumper cables at home or in someone else's car while you race.
Hell, be sure to take a good **** before you leave home for an extra few lbs LOL

You can also try pulling the air filter and/or running beltless.
(I wouldn't do the beltless thing for more than one pass with a short wait in the lines unless you know how long your battery lasts at WOT)

Nice cool air helps too, I dropped almost .20 off my time from one weekend to the next last fall.

Keep in mind that anything you take off, could always be put back in if you wanted to.
I put my seats, spare, swaybar and trunk back together if I don't plan to go race again the next weekend.
Heh, I usually have a pair of child's carseats and a few toolboxes in there too.

Actually it fits better, plus you can get a can of Resolve, the foam stuff and scrub the **** out of it. I have a Taupe interior, Beige and it made a hell of a difference.

Also heat shields, if you have deleted the cat, they are useless.

Get all the easy weight you can get out of the car... Take the air filter off... 1/4 tank... Fresh set of plugs... Front tires at max psi, rear tires at max psi that they'll hook at... If it's a night race, give it a good long cool down and wait for the cool air later in the night...

Thanks for all the ideas, i already have the front swaybar off i forgot to mention that, iam going to drain the coolant tommorrow. and air up the front tires as much as possible, have very little gas and may take the airfilter off (is that bad in anyway?), possibly take out passenger seat, and take out rear panels.

Any other ideas let me know. Thanks alot for the ideas so far!

to the person who asked about the carpet fitting without insulation, i removed the insulation off of mine and it fits just fine. my interior looks stock as a bone

it all depends on what you want to remove, there are a lot of free/cheep things to remove if you can do without some creature comforts...

Hell I pulled out a good couple hundred pounds last season when I pulled the AC, radio, PS, airbags, and relocated the alt, I have since pulled even more weight out, but like I said it all depends on what you think you can live without...

You could run without a catback too. Weight savings and maybe a couple ponies. Might not 60' as hard though.

I haven't had a catback since I did my header install a few years back, never noticed a 60' change, but then again I did a lot of mods at once then too...

ditch the bumper supports, front sway bar, insulation, upper panhard bar, catback (i'd personally leave the intermediate pipe on), lose the passenger seat

run beltless, try to get run w/ a 1/4 tank of gas... hell even mix in a lil 100 unleaded octante in your fuel tank

did you do the tb bypass mod?

a good tune up

Anymone mention skinnies upfront? By far easiest way to loose ~50lbs from switching from the stockers. Plus it will help reduce rolling resistance. But the winter is coming just hit the track when the temp drops you'll get your 12 sec pass easy. -Mark
