Default Bracket Racing

Lets just say i need to keep my car from running a certain time. What would be the most consistent way to slow it down? I have to slow down .5 second

Bring you shift points down about 1000 rpm

What kind of vehicle?

If you have a drive by wire setup, then HPTuners now allows you to limit the total throttle amount opening (think of it like a throttle stop) to run consistently at a lower index.

A 50 lb sandbag in a pillow case in the spare tire well fits in there awesome(wont even move an inch) and helps even out the weight of the driver a bit too

50pounds wont have much as an effect. Short shifting the car is probly the best bet

After the 1000' mark let out and get back into it. Is this index racing or a true bracket.

but that is unsafe amount
some type of throttle stop would be best or rev limit during the pass

.

Shifting is what most people use. Changing weight, launch, timing ect, all change R/T & consistency.

Imma be in the same boat as you. You could also use a bigger, taller, heavier tire to kill your gear ratio and add rotating weight. Not only that but a fat assed tire will ensure you hook every time.

The only other consistent option is reducing timing. Adding weight always works, but as mentioned it'll effect reaction time. I recommend adding weight and putting a shorter tire on the car. That will get you back on the tree after adding weight and also slow you down as the tree sees it. Once you get close, then reduce the shift points as needed.

I think he should use a taller tire rather than smaller to reduce his gear ratio. If you play around with your front tire you can get your reaction times down back to ware they are now (if there good now).

Like TXCAMSS said: dropping the timing back is the most consistent way to slow the car down and once you get pretty close to your number, work on short-shifting the car..(lowering the shift points). Those two with maybe a little weight added should be enough variables to drop a half second.

i dont have the money for a new set of slicks. Ill probably just short shift the car. I wana launch of the t-brake for rt purposes. Again i have less then 2 weeks to do this. I have already pulled timming out of the car.
