Default World Cup Finals (Import vs Domestic) Nov 9th, 2008

Hello to all GM racers! My name is Jason Miller and I am the Event Director at Maryland International Raceway. Alot of you here on the east coast have heard of our World Cup Finals (Import vs Domestic) event. I have had some help from a few GM racers to open the rules up to the different LT and LS combinations, that previously were not allowed. I am new to this board, but we have run many EFA shootouts at our track and I love the F body cars. I used to own one myself a 91' Camaro.

Check out the rules on our site, and we would love to have you come and participate in a heads-up class or an ET class or just watch a spectacular event! Last year we had 786 racers and just over 10,000 fans in the grandstands! A huge audience for you to race in front of and a race where the street cars are the focus of the event! Not Pro Mods, Pro Stocks, etc... You are the main event with crowd cheers and roars like you have never seen before!

Real Street, Street Fighter, Wild Street, True Street, All-Motor Street, Street Stock, Street ET, and Streetbike ET Winners will all receive one of these huge silver cups for their trophy case. These trophies are very expensive, sliver plated, great quality, with a piano wood base.

Come and get em'

Those are some interesting class rules, seemingly a little bias towards smaller displacement FWD cars. I couldnt even run my v8 in the Street Stock catagory....

got to make the racing fair, theres no replacement for displacement, especailly when when us LS guys are using big turbos to cram even more air in there, lol.

I wonder why they changed the rules in the wild street class with the nitrous cars. It used to be only two silenoids (one nitrous, one fuel) with any type of plate, fogger, nozzle/s or direct port set-up you had. What differance does it matter how the nitrous gets in the motor if it's only going thru one silenoid?

Smokeum, I think If Jason didnt change the rules then guys like Conrad could run that class and be faster than he wants the class to run.

(Street fighter) So for a auto 400ci. LS powered car you are limted to a 76mm single turbo and weigh 3400lbs. You can have a 6 cylinder with up to a 91mm turbo and no min. weight..........I hope some GNXs show up and *** rape some folks, cause the LS platform aint going to do it like that.

The 6 cyl cars with a 91mm turbo have to run a manual transmission and those cars weigh in at 3600lbs. We couldnt set a minimum weight as there are such a variety of cars out there with 6 cyl that runs this class and they are not all as heavy as a supra. thats why there is no minimum weight.

The automatic 6 cyl cars have to run an 88mm turbo

This has to be a typo under the quickest class rules:

Supercharged Big Block:
F1, X Trim, XX Trim, Xi Trim Supercharger Any size radial tire 3000 lbs
Any Version F2 Supercharger Any size radial tire 3300 lbs
Any Version F3 Supercharger (REV 10-07-08) Any size radial tire 10,000 lbs

Hey jason,
Why wait until one month before the event to change the rules again? Some of use built or setup our cars for certain events. Then you change stuff. What gives last year (or 06) you changed the tire size two weeks before the event to get more people in (or a certain someone who broke down anyways). Of course this was after I purchased a new pair of tires for this event. Why not make the rules the same each year or give people more than a month to change there setup? Theres only a couple of events that I do at MIR each year and this is one of them and i'm starting to say f-it cause of the rule changes.

Smokeum99ta,
I apologize if you have been caught with an unexpeted change. We appreciate you and everyone else that has been coming. This year we have had some good help from a few different GM guys in an effort to open up the classes to as many cars as possible. We feel that the rules for the World Cup will have minimal changes each year after this event, as we have a rules base we really like now. Now of course if a particular combo is deemed to quick it will be adjusted.

We should be able to have the rules out much earlier in future years as we believe we are really close to competitive rules in all the classes.

You are right, we could do a better job than we have done in past with having them out earlier, it will get better.

Thanks for your support!

10,000lbs LMAO. Just say they you arent allowed to run an F3 frame no matter what. Could I bring an LSX powered car with a 106mm turbo if it weighed like 6000lbs? Or possibly 3400lbs and only 3 tires? Its like blindfolding and binding a pro athlete so they can compete in the special olympics.

It was meant to be funny, instead of just saying its not permitted. Hinzeman ran 7.18 with a BBF3 at the Shakedown race
