Well having a taller tire will yeild a bigger contact patch given the width is the same and same air pressure is used. But you will gear ratio will be effected.

Converter slippage like that IS NOT good, id get that fixed and then look at the tire change difference. I liken it to trying to set the timing to the car with a fucked up carb and floating valve springs. It just doesnt make sense.

The taller tire is also going to kill your gear a little.

What rear end gears are you running and mods? 28" tire is a tall tire, but will be nice for hooking with the extra sidewall.

What gears are you running? A 28 tire should allow you to hook harder with the added sidewall. Is your 1.5x 60' spinning or is that coming out hooking?

I had to give my wheel well a few taps with a BFH to clear for my 325s, but didn't have to cut or trim anything.

The 325's are worth it though. Either way, I voted for 28's. You're gonna need em when you start spraying.

I'm trying to run out 2nd gear instead of shifting into 3rd for all of 2 seconds. If I geared the car for the 1/4 in 3rd it would be undriveable on the highway and I love putting a hurtin on liter bikes. The slip is bad because 5800 is also my flash rpm in 3rd on 16psi. I have a gearing issue and I'm attempting to keep the car streetable by going to less effective gearing with the taller tire to run out my 2nd gear.

I'm using 2.75 gears in my 9". I've gone several low 1.5x and even a 1.48 on a well prepped track but that is rare since my car is not legal and can only be run on street nights. My good 60's are always coming out with the tires fighting for traction, it's at the limit of them. I have upto 850 ft/lbs of torque on tap for launch if I need it. I'm only using 5-8 psi to launch off the transbrake with 8psi being 1.48-1.52 60's, any more and it blows the tires off.

If you're running an auto, how would you run a 28" tire while being programmed for a 26" tire when in street trim? Can you make it shift according to RPM instead of MPH?
