Tuned/Dyno TA-FAST-6.0 230/236. Kinda disappointed with numbers
Alright, I went and got a dino tune from what I thought was a reputable place today. First off, I was highly disappointed in the tuning software being used. LS1Edit. Why? They had HPT there, as do I in my car with WB. They used HPT scanner and LS1Edit to tune. That boggled me. My full tune lasted maybe 1 hour and 30 minutes. With maximum of 10 minutes of street scanning/data logging. 4 WOT pulls. I understand I have a heavy 9" with 411's and it was a Mustang Dino. My corrected numbers were 415 RWHP@6800 and 375 RWTQ@4700. I was not too please with those numbers, and the tuner wasnt really either. Mods are
6.0 LQ4
Lingenfelter 5.3 CNC'd. (Want different heads)
230/236 .573 .580 114LSA
FAST 92 PTM 92 un ported
Kooks 1 7/8 LT
Full 4" custom exhuast. Great exhuast
No UD pulley
9" 4.11's tru trac
Now, the HP was 415 at the wheel at 6300 and it only lost 4 HP at 6800. The car rips, and I think it will do good at the track. But the tune just bugs me. LS1Edit. How did he do MAF and VE tables with Edit? Again, the track is all I care about and a good ET. But these numbers seems slightly low. Im not bad mouthing the place I got tuned, no names are being mentioned, I am just boggled with the LS1edit software and 'kinda' low dino numbers. Thoughts?

Yea, I would love new heads. But on this build, Im not dumping any more money into it. Finally going to start saving for a 400ci+ build and get some serious numbers. Maybe things that can transfer over like a UD pulley. Maybe a E water pump. Doubt that though
Anyone think its wierd they tune with the dinosour Edit when they have HPT sitting right there?

Do you have a graph ? Pretty small lift cam to expect much more, especially on a Mustang Dyno. No clue on the ls1edit tuning. Also seems like more then 10 minutes would've been spent on the street.
I am jumping from one big named sponsor that has previously done all my work, and now will be going to Vengeance Racing. I have been put on notice that I should be ready for a long drive. (No pun intended) What I mean is that Mike will let the customer drive the car while he does his magic on the laptop. Drive it the way you intend to drive so he can tune precisely for it. I hope I made my thoughts translate from brain to print. LOL

Thanks that made me feel a little bietter! You used to live in the area didnt you? Mind telling me where you had your tuning done?

I called him yesterday and told him the car is stalling randomly, hit very very low RPM's, and has a considerable amount of bucking/surging. He pretty much told me I was wrong and asked why it didnt to that to him while he drove it. My thought I wanted to say was... " Well **** Sir, You drove it for 10 effing minutes!!!"
Anyway, I am now racking up scans/data logs of when the car stalls and hits RPMs of 350. I understand with a medium size cam like a 230/236 it WILL have some bucking and surging in some areas. I just think I have more then what should be allowable for a 450 dollar tune. The car pulls like crazy though, put almost 200 miles on it today

Im starting to realize these numbers aint to shabby. The car runs great. Pulls awesome. But the drivabilty just isnt there. I have 3 logs where the RPM's dip way low to 350 and then fight to work back up. Its stall 5 times on its own, and I still think there is too much surging. Tell me guys, if you were driving along in 2nd gear, doing 15 MPH and its bucking and surging... would that be too much for you? Maybe Im wrong or too picky, but it seems likes it surges too much. Im going to send him as many logs as I can of it stalling and dipping into the low 300 RPM's so he doesnt try to make sound like im lying. Thanks guys.

I "tried" telling him that. I completely understand and expect SOME bucking. But not to the degree I have. But I completely disagree with the amount of stret tuning, and I cant believe I paid 450 bucks for a tune that left me stalling and my RPMs dipping to the low 300's. Complete bullshit, but I hope to get it resolved with the tuner is a respectful manner.

You said you have HP tuners right? Why don't you just fix it on your own instead of dealing with the guy that sounds like a real *******. The rpm's dipping is probably extremely simple like your base running airflow table.

Sounds to me like your "tuner" is cheap and didn't want to spend 2 credits on your car (and he probably does that a lot and doesn't have year/model stuff unlocked like he probably should by now).
It sounds to me like you should just go get your money back, and use your own HPTuners to do it yourself...find someone to help if necessary.
