Re: New Solid Roller Dyno results! 600RWHP!!
We were dynoing on a Dynopac Dyno. It was killer for building the fuel map because I could hold the motor at any rpm and any throttle position. The map is really clean and this showed thru acceleration runs we did at the end. It made 600rwhp at 6800rpm after that we saw the throttle body was starting to restrict the air flow.
Pains car has a 1.80Promod gear set in a powerglide and it had 4.10 gears out back.

In all honesty, blast it down the track and post your times and weight. Congrats on the setup, can't wait to see it run!

A Dyno Pac or a Superflow Chassis dyno are awesome for tuning. Being able to hold the motor under any load at any throttle position allows you to tune that thing in perfect. Sounds like this motor was built up the right way.
At a steady state your going to see the motor restricted by the TB earlier on in the HP curve since it will make higer numbers than on an acceleration run. I wonder what numbers you guys would get at a 300rpm and sec pull and a 1000rpm a sec pull? Was the 600rwhp on a steady state pull? If so the numbers will be a little lower if you do it on a Dynojet, I'm 100% on how much lower. Still it's a dam good job considering that's going thru a glide and a big rear end! Probably close to 750HP at the flywheel.

Tuning was done with a mix of steady state, and Ramped pulls. Most of the final runs were done on ramped pulls, the time, and size of the steps were adjusted to focus in on specific areas of the map that needed attention. As the pulls proceeded Brian was able to extend the rpm range we were pulling through. We reached a limit though with out Throttle body, as Brian noted by changes in our air/fuel mix overlayed with pressure tranducer readings that we were tracking.
Dman it was cool to watch these guys go at it.

The motor is a 422 built by Extreme Machine in Clealake Texas. The intake is sheetmetal, throttle body is a BBK 88mm. It is too small. We are looking at a 105mm piece so hopefully we can pick up 35rwhp more. It has a solid roller from Cam Motion and the compression is 14 to 1.

Great numbers!!!
