Default TR227/224 and FAST Comparison

I went with a mild cam due to wanting good street manners in my 2002 Z06 and decided on the TR227/224 cam on a 114lsa. The car also has stock ls6 heads, 1 7/8" kooks LT's, 3" X-pipe with hi-flo cats, UD pulley, and a Vararam intake. I tuned the car myself with a wideband and hptuners. Both were done on the same dyno.

The second dyno session included an LME ported FAST 90mm intake and an LS2 ported throttle body.

It seems to me the FAST is not worth the money on this setup. Maybe with a bigger cam or some heads the numbers would have been higher.

No track numbers yet. I hope to make it out there in the next few weeks b4 I ditch this setup for a blower. It pulls very hard in this car though! Raceweight is 3300lbs with driver. It ran away from a 115mph car on the highway even though I had a passenger.

how long have you had this setup? Just curious since you mentioned ditching it.

Nice numbers with the cam!

I've got the graph at home. There were aproximately 10rwhp lower, but I would have to check.

What kind of timing were you running before and after the swap?

22.4*. With the LS6 heads I got knock anywhere above that. 93 octane fuel.

That's pretty low even for a stock LS6 head....are you sure there isn't any water in the gas or anything like that? I'd expect you to be able to run closer to 27-28º total at WOT....max power may need a little less with the ported FAST than it wanted with an LS6 on there.

It's actually pretty common with an ls6 head and the 10.4:1 compression on an ls6. This was the case even when it was bone stock. The FAST did not seem to make a difference. The ls6 head is just has better thermal and volumetric efficiency allowing it to make more power or the same power with less timing.

The dyno runs at the end where the power dropped off were when the timing was increased.

That's interesting. I run 27.5* on my stock headed LS6 with the TR230/224 440/413rw, et in sig. Nice numbers from your combo. Interesting to see what an uncommon reverse grind can do.

22º is still pretty low, even for a stock LS6. We've tested them literally hundreds of times on the dyno. Have you tried some racegas to see if it's true knock?
