Default Got the camaro back today!! Disappointing numbers???

I got my camaro back today and it sounds awesome but the numbers were lower than expected and I even did a pole on here a while back and everybody agreed with me that it would be around 375rwhp.

Mods and car>2002 z28 a4 w/ 49k, TR224 cam, mac mid length headers and y-pipe with high flow carsound bullet cats, lid, kandn, fram, tbb, hooker aerochamber catback, msd wires, smooth bellow, underdrive pulley, and a vette doctors dyno tune.

Could it be that they used mineral oil and the engine isn't broken in yet.

Wanted 375rwhp/370rwtq, actual numbers were 348.5@5400 and 359.2@4300(wasn't a mustang dyno)

flattens out after 5300 to 6000 (stays right between 343rwhp and 348.5rwhp)

yes that is a lil low, could it be because it was a4? my lid/LT/dump m6 camaro made 349hp/361tq.

was it tuned?

It was tuned as far as I know, the shifts are different, ect.

It hits 348.5rwhp at 5300 and slowly goes down to 343 at 6000. What hp are cars making 375rwhp making at 5300rpm.

Hopefully when it breaks in a little and I put some synthetic in there (if they didn't) it will be about 370-375.

There's a LOT of power being soaked up by that exhaust you have. Real headers, the full length variety, an ORY and a cutout and you'll see your 375rwhp goal.

Other than that, peaking at 5300rpm is a problem. That cam should peak around 6000-6300.

It would be nice if you could post a graph.

You say you just got it back, so I'll assume someone built it for you. Same place that did the tune? What did they say?

Doesn't surprise me really, i used to have a z28 with almost the same setup except i had LT's and ORY. I only made 340 something on a dynojet through an a4. It ran great at the track though so i didn't really care.

Yea, I brought it somewhere and they did the work and tune, it has the parts on it and the numbers are right where they should be until 5300rpm

I needed the car back in a week and if i did the work it would of been closer to a month so I brought it there.

I have the dyno sheet before the cam/headers/tune/pulley and will post a link soon.

Kinda hard to see but it made 340rwhp at 5000rpm which seems on par for a 375rwhp car but whats holding me back.

It sounds exactly like the cam is installed advanced or it was cut incorrectly. That would explain why you are peaking at 5300. That cam should pull to at least 6300.

It takes a long time to come down to idle after being revved too and if I'm from a dead stop and let off the brake and gas, it will go to 1300rpm idling across the parking lot. Would that be caused by being too advanced.

I'd like to be more certain it's one of those problems before I start blaiming anybody. Could you give me some symptoms I should look out for. Car does shake at 6-700 idle. Stalled once on me too. (automatic)

I only gained 32rwhp from a underdrive pulley, tune, tr224, and mac mids!!!

Thanks for the help guys, I'm really disappointed with the top end numbers.

With your mods I would say that is about right. I have the same cam with heads and only made 375 or so. So I just don't see you making 375 cam only with and A4.

What rwhp did you make at 5000rpm, there's no reason my hp leveled out at 5000, it should have pulled to 6000. I found another dyno sheet where someone had the same hp at 5000 (340rwhp) and a little less torque and they made 365rwhp. (same mods, no pulley)

i have the same cam and i peaked at 5600. which i also thought was odd. what kind of dyno were you tuned on, mine was a dyno dynamics and i have heard that they are nick named the heart breaker dyno. but that doesnt explain why we both peaked so early.
