Not sure if mine is in this group but here are the #s. Lingenfelter heads/ Joe Overton cam, stock bottom end from the factory with supporting mods on E-85 made 457.8rwhp@6100rpm and 421.0rwtq@4800rpm. The car is a 1995 full weight vert with me @4100 pounds that ran a 12.1@115.9mph with a 2.0 60 foot N/A. I sprayed the car175shot top of 2nd and 3rd and 4th and went 11.80@127mph with a 2.1 60 foot.

Dyno numbers can be manipulated, track numbers can't. The only good thing about a dyno is the ability to tune and to quantify A to B gains on a setup. This is why racing dynos is useless. Take it to the track, calculate DA, and post the full timeslip with race weight. That will weed out the "freaks". My advice to the "dyno racers" is to find an unaffiliated dyno tuner (in other words, not the guy who sells you the parts) and pick one dyno and stick with it so all results can be compared more reasonably. Good luck,

Larry

+1. Every dyno is different. Some read lower, some read higher...

for example my MS3/full bolt on 01 M6 SS put down 474rwhp on a dyno that wasnt properly calibrated...

went to the track and its trapping 116 from a 2.5 60' (launching from a idle and bogging on its face)...judging by the 116 trap, I would say realistically its around 400rwhp.

now, with intake/headers and exhaust my car put down 351rwhp/355rwtq un-tuned. Took it to the track and it went 13.2 @ 111 over and over again. Those numbers were realistic.

Agreed, I just tune, dont sell parts or installs. I use Dyno's for tuning purposes only but Like I said on one customer, made like 404 RWHP but ran low 11's. Not a stripper, full weight, M6 with 456's but would dead hook. Again people said I was full of it and he was spraying. We did have one customer with a stock LS1 sans bolt on's that went I believe in the high 11's. But this guy did take out everything from the car. It was basically a shell running down the track. I mean carpet, everything.....

my 02 Z28 made 330RWHP & 361RWTQ on a mustang dyno. only mods were SLP lid K&n & dynomouth exhuast with non mandrel bent pipe & untuned. The car had 5500miles. It ran 13.3 @110.98 with a 2.2 60' on the factory 245 goodyears. I borrowed a set of 275 40 17 yokahama tires non-drag radials & ran 12.7 @ 110.2 with a 1.9 60'

times in sig ...kind of a friek i guess...it has always been strong...

dyno dont mean anyhting for a friek car...mine put down 422rwhp with ls6 intake, then put the fast 92 on and it went down to 409rwhp on the same dyno but it had been recalibrated...but i ran 1mph faster at the track...

i say go by track numbers only, just use the dyno as a tuning tool...

dont want to start **** but with exception of 1-2 cars on this thread not really any freaks

and to the guy with the STS @ 4lbs, anything w/ a turbo under 500hp is NOT a freak. I had mine turbo @ 475 w/ 4lbs on 91 oct, I consider that normal. yours actually sound low. Cant really tell by boost either, since there are so many variables.

you really gotta go to the track to see what you trap to get an idea of what its making. Dynos are eeffy, really meant for tuning. et's gives a more complete chasis estimate(suspension set-up), where trap speed gives you idea on what your engine's making.

to me fast is trapping over 114's mph with stock like engine/bolt ons, 119+ mph cam only, and so on...

...FLAME ON!

Sounds like you just dyno'd on an incredibly high reading dyno. It should be trapping a lot higher than that if it has 458rwhp.

Our old 02 WS.6 M6 ran an 8.4@87mph(IIRC) with a lid, and loudmouth. stock tires, sportline springs (which we all know suck at the track) and no weight reduction.

Later added a RPM Level V T56 with all the options, and 3.73s. Never got back to the track, but it dyno'd 351rwhp/372rwtq after the dyno tune.

I dont think its a freak, but it was definitly quick for what it was.

Do some searching on how to alter Dyno Reading!

This includes how the car is fastened to the dyno.

Then look up Dynapack Hub Mounted dyno.

Introducing a radically different approach to chassis dynamometer testing.... The Dynapack! - the only unique and technically sophisticated dyno available today in a market that is crowded with cookie-cutter designs. We have SOLVED the problem of tire slippage and the inconsistencies of the tire to roller interface - while our competitors try to pretend that these problems don’t exist. If you’ve operated a roller dyno, you know better. We’ve started with a clean sheet to design a dyno that truly performs and exceeds customer expectations. Why settle for a “standard” dyno when you can have so much more.
How a Dynapack is different

Dynapack Repeatability

Then re-post.

BTW if car A and car B have the very same STOCK calibration in the car how can the be any different?

Are you sure about those credentials in your sig? There is more to the performance of a vehicle than the PCM calibration. The entire vehicle is built within certain tolerances. Sometimes they stack up well, sometimes they don't. Some cars weigh less from option content, and some drivers are just more capable.

I've seen different stock LS1s go low 14s and high 12s on the same day on the same track.

Claiming that your a GM World Class Technician would mean you've sat through hours of training. I've sat through the same training, albeit for Ford. Ford, during powertrain testing for the 03 Cobra engine found up to 25-30HP variation in engines due simply to cylinder hone finish!! Fresh tooling netted best results, while the cylinders in the end of the tooling life (1000 cylinder hones) yielded poor results, but still within tolerance.

you are 100% Correct, From multiple cars, I have seen BONE STOCK LS1's as low as 285 RWHP up to 315 RWHP, Pretty much same mileage, same trans, Tires ect. Also we would have two cars with the exact same mods and the shop would install the same cam in both, again after tuning one car would make more horsepower than the other, Now I am not talking about 2 or 3 but up to 12 to 15 difference, also one might start right up and idle fine while the other would need tuning right off the bat just to get the car to run so???????
Can you enlighten me on this caleditor, Just curious why the anomalies..

Recently had an 08 Vette, nothing but a CAI make 390 untuned and 403 tuned. 6 speed car. That same car typically makes about 20 hp less on the same dyno.

Sounds like the opportunity too pull the LS1tech marketing trick. Pull up a normal dyno untuned before and overlay this after on top and say, "Look at these gains from just a CAI and tune!"
