Well it just keeps getting better. We drove 2 hours two bracket race at PineValley Raceway in Diboll, Texas this weekend I lost in the finals due to a break-out while on the brakes. The car went a 7.09 1/8th mile and 11.22 in the 1/4 on the brakes. It had been running 119-120mph throughout the day. I knew it was going to be quick, but not that quick on that pass. I left it in full street trim minus the 28" tall rear slicks. It would have ran a tenth quicker with drag radials, but we were bracket racing and didn't need to set any new best ETs. The air was great and the track was hooking. It was pulling 1.54 60fts and running strong all day. I should have pulled the floor mats and some fuel out of it and made another pass, but we were wore out and starving. I attached a copy of the time slip for ya'll. This combo is just crazy.

I'm glad to see some more impressive results. I can't wait to see my light at the end of the tunnel. I just need a good "tune" to see the optimum performance of this combo. Local tuner here sucks and I'm waiting for the sponsor tuner here to give me a heads up on a tune for me.

How was your tune, pretty easy?

Man I wish I hadn't been in competition or I could have pulled the passengers seat, dropped the cat-back and added my lower SSRA scoop. I know I could have gotten into the 11.0s and then with a drag radial we would have hit a 10.9X if it would have hooked up. The amazing thing is that I'm running stock 3.23 gears and a 28" tall drag slick so the gearing is worse than having 2.73s out back. The Circle D converter is makng up for the gearing I guess and the low end power/torque likes it.

The stock 10 bolt is living on borrowed time. That will be swapped out soon with an S60 or
9" and we'll add a little more gear at that time.

Yes sir actually we went with the Circle D Specialties 2E 4000 stall converter. It is more of a race style converter as it is pretty loose feeling and doesn't hit as hard out of the hole like the more street friendly C and B series converters. We bracket race this car a lot and my wife also daily drives it. The looser feel doesn't bother us at all, but it might bother some people. It still 60fts good and is less violent at the hit which is easier on the 130K mile 10 bolt that's in the car. I think the STR on the 2E is right at 2.1-2.2

I gained a bit from the 3B to 2E swap, but that wasn't the reason for the swap. It was to improve my bracket racing game and it definitely did do that. I had a great year of racing and finished off with a R/U trophy, a little $$$ and a new personal best ET, 60ft and MPH.

Pontiac put a lot of sound deadener in their vehicles to quiet the outside noise down and also your seats are beafier than the Camaro seats. Plus you have a lot of ground affects and big nostrils on your car. So a Camaro will always weigh less but we give up comfort for weight lose. Now looking back, I am unsure if you were comparing ta with camaro or ta with ANOTHER TA lol. So I hope this helped out understanding the difference in weight.

TXCAMSS, I was thinking about this cam on a LS1 w/ AFR 205's out of the box and a LS6 manifold. How do you think the numbers (namely the torque under the peak) compare with your results on a LS6 head? I am after alot of under peak gain, when your cam seems to have tons off. I am love'in the 380rwtrq @ about 3600 rpm.

patrick g and geoff never cease to amaze me, this car was my inspiration for a custom cam instead of off the shelf. geoff just spec'd a 226/234 113 for my car. hoping it picks up a couple mph over the crappy cam thats in it now.

talk to those guys for a custom cam.each head flows a little different and needs their own cam for best flow and power.

Ressurecting an old thread here. My question is would this cam work well in 383 with ls6 heads, or could i go bigger and yet still have the same drivabilty characterstics as this one. Again the rest of the engine would be practically identical except 383 vs 346. Bolt-ons same as well.

Thanks for any input.

I would bet that with you having the additional cubic inches, this cam would be absolutely undetectible in your 383. It would also be an absolute torque monster, but I would contact Patrick G or Geoff at EPS and have them spec out a cam specifically for that combo. I'd bet there is additional power to be gained with no trade offs and no added expense.

We are actually having to find ways to slow our car down to keep from getting kicked out of the track. That's a good thing

TXCAMSS^^ How often did you all have to change the springs on the eps cam in your white SS?
