What valve springs did you go with?

We went with the newest version of Comps 918s. These or the PAC comparable springs will work fine.

I keep seeing crazy numbers from the EPS lobes. I can't wait to get mine in.

Running a similar setup in terms of parts, but through an M6 and a 230/234 cam on a 112+4, and 11.0:1 compression. Hoping it will be nasty

.(We still have the stock 3.23 gears in the original 128K mile 10 bolt...eeeekkkk)

↑↑↑↑↑ I would like to know how your able to pull a 1.50 60ft with the stock 10bolt ,DR's, and full weight making the horsepower you are making??????

Reason I ask is because I expect to be making over 400hp soon and would like to keep my factory 10bolt with DR's.

Actually it was a 1.54 60ft, but it should have been able to be improved slightly (1.52?) with better air. I think the reason the rear has held up is because of the fairly tight stall converter and no wheel hop. That was only a few passes on the DRs though. We run a 28" slick when we bracket race and we do race a lot. The tall slick absorbs a lot of the shock at the hit. There is no question that the 10 bolt would blow if we beat on it with the DRs very often.

We just swapped the tighter Circle D converter for a Circle D "money Maker". It's looser low STR 4000rpm converter for bracket racing purposes. It's not going to be anywhere near as driver friendly, but I bet our ET improves a bit.

I have a SLP CAI kit on the car. I'll check into Chris1313s set up though. Thanks!!

hmmmm I have a M6 ,,, I don't think a 28" slick is still going to help keep my 10bolt together .

Thanks for the response though.

I wasn't making quite the power you are James and my car only weighed about 2900# but my 3.23 held up for quite a few years running 1.4? 60' times. I had a 3600 PI converter. That 3.23 pinion is larger than the 3.42 and lower gearing so it's stronger even though a 10 bolt. I did finally replace my carrier when it developed a whine.

Yeah Larry we both got quite a few miles/passes out of our stock 10 bolts pulling 1.4 60fts. Our blue SS had very few miles on it compared to Sheila's white SS. It's just a matter of time. The Torsen spider gears are the weak link when running 3.23s/3.42s IMO.

I've found that eliminating wheel hop, softening the hit and keeping the rwhp under 450ish to be the key to making a non-modified 10 bolt survive.

LCA relocating brackets and a soft efficient converter is very important or run a tighter converter so the hit comes in before the HP/TQ is too much for the rear to handle.

I'm going to start the shift points at 6450rpm and work up and down using ET and MPH as the final deciding factors. We haven't had a chance to make any passes just yet, but hope to soon

Another area that was tweaked to help get the most out of this combo was the modification of the Y-pipe merge collector. I'm not sure what brand Y-pipe I had, but it lacked in the flow department by design. Kurt pointed out the obvious flow restriction and it just made sense after looking at it. He installed a much better merge collector and it changed the entire sound of the exhaust note and is actually quieter and more crisp than before the cam install.lol.

I attached a few pics for a visual:

Before

After

What fittings were needed to make the y? By the looks of it you used three 45s and two 90s am I right? I want to make one up just want to make sure I order the right stuff . Also what Y collector did you use?

You would have to hit up 98Aggie (Kurt Decker) for the details on the custom built Y-pipe. He did all of that work himself. I will say, it really changed the exhaust note. It sounds mean and crisp.

I'm gonna have to send Big Ol Kurt a pm to see which merge he used so that i may add it on before i take him my car, just slapped in a EPS 234/246 .601/.606 111Lsa cam in my car, hope it make nearly as much as TXCAMSS's car did with that smaller cam.
