i work for a caddy/GMC dealer and ive seen stock l92's in escalades/denalis break valve springs plenty of times. its not a matter of if its gonna break a spring its when.you would think someone would try n make some better springs. they keep trying to use the stock spring pocket. i bet if u used a locator and a demensionally bigger spring, or machined the head to accept a demensionally bigger spring for that matter that might cure some of the longetivity issues. it may increase a little mass 4 but peace of mind and reliability id give up a couple of hp and a little rpm in my cam only DD.

It was a long block special SDPC was running for $2995.00. You can call them, but I doubt you will get that price right now.

I didn't say stockers dont wear out/break, but it's not near is likely or soon as an aftermarket cammed car with stiff springs. People breaking stock springs are probably starting it up in the cold and tearing the **** out of it. There are stockers goin 300k+ miles, you'll never do that with a cammed/springed car

I agree, things could be done to make them last longer... but it's all a balancing act.

And $2995 is pretty darn cheap for a crate LS6.. I have a buddy that paid 6k for one over summer through a local mechanic

Valve springs an any performance engine are maintenance items. IMO this cam set up will go 20-30K before I will need to worry about replacing the springs. Swapping springs is not a big deal or an expensive task. A large camshaft can wear the valve guides and springs prematurely especially if not set up right. This is one of the reasons we went this route and we are very pleased with the results and integrity of the combination.

The LS6 was a longblock special, not a crate engine, but a great deal no doubt.

I wonder how that cam would run im my lq4 With a ls6 intake, headers, and bolt ons . It will be going into a 94 s10 shortbox with a t56. I plan on driving it daily.
Might sound like a stupid question, but what kind of mileage are you getting with the camaro daily driving it? Just curious.

It should work well with that set up. I have no idea what kind of fuel mileage it gets. I'll have to check it. It's not something we really worry about really. It would be nice to know though. I'll have my wife check it the next time she fills up.

Well we got to check the gas mileage on the car coming back from the track. We put 160 miles on her and topped her off. It was mostly hiway miles, but did have a good bit of stop and go traffic along with 2 days of my wife driving it to and from work. She managed to get 20.3 mpg . That was a sweet surprise. We never really worried about fuel economy, but it's nice to know we can have decent power along with decent mileage.

I just thought I'd share since someone asked about it. I'll try to get a pure in town mileage check also.

Thanks for checking that. I plan on putting this cam in my daily driver and wanted to know if it would greatly reduce my mileage. my camaro gets 16 so I kind of wanted to do a little better with the truck.
Thanks again,
Kory

I went with FIC (sponsor ->) 36# @ 58psi injectors. Great people to deal with. These are stock type injectors with higher flow options and easier to tune than the SVOs.

Thanks for the info. Did you check your injector duty cycle with the 36lb injectors?
Did you adjust the tune yourself or was it done by somebody else?
Thanks
Alex
