Get the MSD one it plugs into the coil packs and then 1 other wire. If your wanting to pull timing you can also use the LNC. I haven't messed with one personally so don't know much about them, the MSD works and it was super simple to install. I think it is kind of expensive but for a 6 speed car (like mine and yours) they are needed to gain consistency off the line.

Thunder Racing Custom Built 383ci Motor w/ Callies rotating assembly - machining cost will vary but assume 2500 for a Callies rotating assembly, you can get one for less.
-Trick Flow 225cc Cylinder Heads - including TFS heads with powder guides for stock rockers, a BTR trunion upgrade kit and pushrods is like 27-2800.
-Thunder Racing New Stroker Cam: 247/251 .624/.632 112 LSA - Thunder Racing is out of business but figure 400 bucks for a custom cam or a little less for a shelf cam
-QTP 1-3/4" Long tube headers(Customer previously had) - you can get Texas Speed 1-7/8 headers for 540
-Fast Intake Manifold w/ Fast "Big Mouth" Throttle Body - Vengeance Racing has a 102 FAST kit for 1600 that is without porting a 102 Nick Williams TB and OEM style rails. Billet rails, braided fuel lines, and porting will make it more expensive. A 90mm FAST uses all the factory fuel stuff and is 850.
-Racetronix Fuel System - 200
-4.10 gears - 250
-Custom Speed Density Tune -650
Set aside a lot more money for all the little things like gaskets, new timing chain, an intake if you don't have one. An exhaust or cut-outs... ect ect. Check out the "so you wanna be fast" sticky.

A **** load....
I can't help you there man but it would be a lot.
You would also need injectors, hotwire kit, and 255 pump.
Unless you have a blown ls1 or something, I would just buy a short block iron 408 or an aluminum ls2 based 402. To put it into perspective, I was dead set on a 383 build because I have TFS heads, 102 fast, 1-7/8 headers, blah blah. Now, I'm selling my headers, heads, exhaust, cam, and all the other ancillaries of a hi-compression n/a build. Putting on GM 317 heads a different cam, and building a turbo kit, and swapping the FAST out for a Pro-Flo and I am going to MAKE money from doing this.
Now I understand, you aren't looking to build your own turbo and likely don't want to chop your cowl to fit a Pro-Flo. But it was cheaper for me to go this route, than to re-machine my block for the 4" crank and do the all-motor/nitrous 383 deal (i'll be faster too). You don't see a lot of 383 LSX based motors because you're limited to 3.9 bore cylinder heads. If you want to do h/c's that's cool but depending on what your starting with. I bet you would be just as happy with doing heads on your current car, or if not, step up to a 4" bore and unlock the potential for a much larger selection of heads. I am glad I didn't do my 383 now... even though it would have been awesome to have sort of a novelty motor since you don't see many of them.
Sorry for the long off topic post
