Default Trickflow 220s and G5X4 cam???

I am going to be switching out my ls6 heads to a set of Trickflow 220s with a stage 1 port job from TEA milled to 59cc. Has anyone on here run a set of these with the G5X4 cam ? My car made just over 400 with unmilled stock ls6 heads. I'm expecting some major improvement with the TF 220's.

This is going into a 01 camaro stock cubes with a PT4400 convert through 3.73 gears. I'm gonna port my LS6 intake until I buy either a LS2 intake or a fast. car has full bolt ons, ported TB and full drag suspension.

I say around 450 hp and low 400 tq but I hear alot of good stuff about the 220 ported so we will see I myself am more into the track times then the dump numbers. I seen alot of under dog low dump number a4's kill high number cars at the track :-)

I hear yah about dyno numbers.. Seeing as Ive been racing A4 cars since 98 I never cared about the overall number I only cared about seeing the gains I get from mod to mod. I too have always been one of those under dogs.

All I can say is that I made 464/414 with the G5X4, AFR 205s & Kooks Lts with a 6 speed.
Which is only a tad better than when I made 455/410 with the G5X3, old Absolute Speed 2.5's & a budget set of Pacesetter Lts. With the bigger cam, better heads & better LTs i expected more than a 9 rwhp gain.

I have had 3 sets of Absolute Speed heads in the past. I would be running a set of AS heads if he was still doing them.

Definately, Jay may have took awhile to get the heads out, but damn it was worth it! Guys were making great power with his heads, and that was 5-6 years ago without the better intakes, larger lids/throttle bodies/maf's and better tuning that we have now.

I would use one of the LSL or LSK cams. The TFS heads really flow well with agressive cams even at low lift.

Wow great guess casey... thanks for chiming in. I'm sure your guess has a lot of research and knowledge behind that. Hey good luck with your setup try not to strip out and break all your bolts.

Curious if you get your ls6 intake ported I understand the fast intake but the ls2 vs ls6 intake stock vs stock the ls6 outflows it!! even though the ls2 has a bigger throttle body opening.. Fast is the way 2 go I'm in the budget for some tfs 220's also can't wait to see the gains!

I'm going to port the Ls6 intake for now. I eventually will switch to the Fast.. They are just so much money it really needs to be worth the power gains. imo I need to see atleast 15 rwhp to be worth close to 1500 bucks.

Are you porting the ls6? If not, dont waste your money as they dont gain much if anything. Unless you go to TPIS and have them throw a 90mm snout on it, but you could save that money for a FAST.
