2000 LS1 Miata burning lean and making 353HP/358TQ
My first post here. I purchased a Miata with an LS1 (the seller is/was a member here and had the car posted on here a few months ago) and took it to the dyno last week. The car runs a little lean and I figure I could get a bit more power out of it if I increased the fuel but I'm really not looking for a dyno queen. I only drive the car on the street and the Miata really doesn't need more than the 353 it is making. So what am I doing posting here? I'm really just wanting to show off the dyno graph and see what you guys think about the A/F. I also wanted to know how hard it was to add a little fuel to it (i.e. buy a $10 cable to attach my laptop to the OBDII port or is it more in depth than that). Of course, I'm also saying Hello (first post) but I am not sure if I will ever tear into the engine. I'm more of a Miata guy instead of an LS1 guy (our only Corvette was an '84 <G>). Thanks!

You hit 14:1 and that's leaner than I would run.
Unfortunately to adjust it, you need more than a $10 cable. If you don't trust a pro, find someone around you with HPT or EFIlive. Typically costs about $100 to add a car to the program and use their cable. Have them touch it up and buy them lots of beer afterwards.
I like high powered miatas. Fun toy.

$300 is not bad for a full tune, but i can see where you are coming from about paying that much just to fix your afr.
There is a guy search on google for "frost tuning" he is very good at mail order tunes and might be able to help you.
Where are you located and are there any internal mods to the car?

For $300 there is no magic #. He should be experimenting and give the car what it wants. I'd start with 12.5 around 4500 and and experiment from there. My recollection is that LS1 seemed to like it a little richer around peak torque and about 13:1 around peak HP. I haven't tuned an LS1 in years so don't take that as gospel.

We didn't get a fuel pressure gauge on it today but the lean spot was taken out and all is well. The tuner said I was running about 90% duty cycle so I'll have to consider that if I do any upgrades to the engine (I doubt that I ever will but who knows).
